I recently read where two captains (Dhoni and Malik I think) donated the match prizemoney to charity and was very happy to hear it. I am not trying to be petty. Sorry if I came across that way. See, I did not know about Dhoni and Malik donating anything and thanks for bringing up this good news. But you also implied that receipt of the award it self is an insult.

Hope there was... that was a far tougher tour and the discipline and effort that some of the players not involved here (Jaffer, Karthik, Tendulkar, Ganguly, Zaheer, etc) was quite outstanding... probably more deserving of a reward than half the T20 side IMO. No Salil. There was none. Since test cricket is not a money spinner, test cricket achievements won't be recognised by BCCI too. That is why I'm so against these businessmen and politicians running the organisation, when they've no idea whatsoever about cricket!

Hopefully, some of the players either refused this insult or donated their share to charity. I'm actually surprised that Indians even waste time on something as superfluous as cricket, what with all the homeless and hungry people there.:wink_smile: There are many, many more obscene things around Donny. 200k to transform a couple of lower-middle class kids into instant heroes with cement roofs over their heads is practically level work. Consider also how many non-metro kiddies are inspired by such OTT-ness. India is all about activism/agitation and eventual betterment via populist nonsense -- Chak de India, Rang de Basanti, de etc. Montell Jordan puts it best, "dis is 'ow we do it" In the grand scheme of things, we're only a bunch of ex-colonies playing a colonial game in a post-colonial world. :wink_smile: Obscene doesn't even BEGIN to describe the situation, baby.

However, if you need further info then let me point out that the UK is the epitome of a capatalist country and it does not even have a written constitution. Hence did not see relevance of your point, so felt no need to expand on it!

However, it is none of Symonds' business to make such OTT statements either. He can focus on winning the series. That is fine, but it is not his to comment on how others should run their business.

I clearly said, "Hopefully, some of the players refused this insult" - meaning I thought it an insult to give (not receive) $US 200,000 to each player.
