Agassi was AWOL most of the years and had very little mileage even even when he was in his 30s. Besides, the courts then favored first strike tennis which meant that he didn't have to run as much. Nadal on the other hand has racked up the miles:once his movement diminishes, he will fade away fast.

lol.. trying to find some solace in Nadal's defeat through arbitrary reasoning. Do you know that Djoko is also 26-27 and dominating in such strong field. Nadal lost this but doesn't change the fact that he dominated in last 3 months. Federer has been consistent' date=' like no other player in history, but has been found wanting against good players even when he was in his prime.[/quote'] nadal hasnt won a slam outside clay since 2010 nor will he in the future with the arise of murray,joker..as for dominance in last 3 months,of course he`ll dominate during the clay cycle

Djokovic and Murray have another 2 years at the top it seems because the next generation are still not good enough yet. But even they will start to struggle because few tennis players who rely on baseline exchanges last so long. If the next bunch ie the dimitovs and raonic's were better then Djkovic would stop dominating next year.

Congratulations Steve Darcis:two_thumbs_up:One of the poorest performances ever by Rafael Nadal. His performance yesterday has been by far the worst match Nadal has played in a Slam maybe since Roland Garros 2011 Round 1 against Isner.
It wasn't a poor performance at all. Check all of Nadal's performances in the first week of Wimby. He has been taken to 5 sets many a time. Robert Kendrick (2006) Soderling,Youzhny (2007) Haase,Petzner (2010) The fact is that in the first week, the courts are fast and low bouncing. Nadal's top spin stands up to be hit and right in the hitting zone of taller players. With his mobility reduced, this loss was hardly any surprise.

He was more mercurial than Sampras....Agassi was probably the most gifted Tennis player I have ever seen in terms of natural talent....Also he was the best returner in the game, was more of a baseliner.....so don't you have to be a swift mover to have that kind of a game?

Read "Open"; its a fascinating book and delves into the psychological aspect of Tennis. And Andre was a good mover, but the level has just taken off now with 4-5 hour matches being the norm, which ultimately take a toll on your body.Andre himself took injections/pain killers to keep playing till 2005.

Yeah heard good things about his autobiography.....Will give it a read. I agree with you,he did always look reluctant playing the game but just my opinion, that he is the gretest baseliner I have ever seen.

I think it's fair enough to say Fed is past his prme...Even in his straigh set wins, you could tell,he doesn't have the aura he once had. Heart says Fed but my money is on Djoker. Murray had a nice run but he is another Hewitt at best.

What crap is that? Agassi was acknowledged as young precocious talent right from time he started taking Tennis seriously. In 1988 when he was still 18, he was ranked no 3 in world. And 1988 wasn't a depleted field like 2004-05. We had players like Lendl, Becker, Edberg, Wilander, Mcnero etc. Following is what Nick Bollitieri had to say about him. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andre_Agassi
At age 13, Andre was sent to Nick Bollettieri's Tennis Academy in Florida.[15] He was meant to stay for only 3 months because that was all his father could afford. After thirty minutes of watching Agassi play, Bollettieri called Mike and said: "Take your check back. He's here for free," claiming that Agassi had more natural talent than anyone else he had seen

Agassi always hated tennis but his Dad pushed him very, very hard and made him practice extremely long hours. Read "Open" for some real insights into Agassi's development as a player...
