Uh, no that's stupid. Islam says drinking alcohol is unclean/haram. There were no sponsor ship logos in the days of Mohamad so what fawad is doing is totally interpreting it his way, the way he sees it. That's fine, that's up him, but it's also stupid and dumb because he's playing in grounds where alcohol is sold, and advertised. He moved to a country where the very culture is about drinking. Effectively he's putting his religion ahead of his adopted country having moved to the country himself. Like I said, it's stupid.

Moving to any such country is fine as long as he is not directly involved in personally consuming+promoting it, no matter even if 99.9% of others doing it, he is not responsible for them...

This is from the Cricket Australia's official website on it's sponsors: It doesn't matter if the logo is on or off. 1. Victoria Bitter, as it says on the official site, is the official beer of Cricket Australia -> 2. Fawad is an official player of Cricket Australia -> 3. Victoria Bitter may not the official beer of Fawad the muslim, -----> but it's the official beer of Fawad, the Australian Cricketer (logo or no logo).

I don't understand why Fawad is making it so complicated for him. He is still new and have to make a mark in International level, but with these controversies he is hitting the axe on his own feet. I believe just like KingFisher VB must be producing sodas and fizzy drinks apart from alcohol.

Since I have moved to the US, I realize this fact now that getting pissed/drunk is not a pastime of the most here. In aus on thurs or Friday at 5 PM it's called beer o'clock lol

I had only read the last 20-25 posts, so my comment was directed to Fontaine. But despite your explanation, I don't get the logic. It's a matter between Fawad and his employers, that's where the discussion should end, IMO.

Aaah, maybe I should have elaborated - it's an amicable matter between Fawad and his employers in which neither have expressed any grievance, and does not break any law.

I may not agree with his reasons but that's probably because I don't see any logic in any religion but as long as he and his bosses are fine, how does it matter. I would still like to post in this thread and argue just to piss off our padosis lol
