The Olympics are total and utter farce. They put cities into states of bankruptcy and in some cases it takes decades to cover the costs for the entire event. It also contrary to popular belief doesn't promote sports to such an extent in that country to make it a force in the future. I suppose Tokyo of the 3 cities listed is in the best position to survive financially but it too will feel it badly. Not a fan of the Olympics, useless event that puts the taxpayer in that country in a much worse position. One city hosts the event but the entire population suffers the burden.

Athens was not prepared for the Olympics, it was a terrible mistake to have them host it in the first place. Beijing and London both broke even. Montreal suffered some loss but of all the past Olympics only Athens was close to being bankrupt because of the Olympics. It was a case of poor management and decision and can be treated as an exception. Your original claim that "Olympics put cities into states of bankruptcy" does not have any basis.
