Chennai Super Kings' Gurunath Meiyappan, the son-in-law of BCCI president-in-exile N. Srinivasan, has been charged for betting and cheating during the IPL by the Mumbai police. Pakistani umpire Asad Rauf has also been named as a wanted accused in the chargesheet along with actor Vindoo Dara Singh and 15 bookies from Pakistan. The hearing has been scheduled for November 21. In the 11,609-page chargesheet filed today by the crime branch in the court of additional chief metropolitan magistrate Uday Padwad, Meiyappan has been accused of betting, cheating, forgery and leaking information. He has been charged under section 66A of the Information Technology Act, sections 4 and 5 of the Gambling Act. He has also been charged under sections 465 (forgery), 466 (forgery of record of court or of public register), 468 (forgery for cheating), 471 (using as genuine a forged document), 490 (breach of contract), 420 (cheating), 212 (harbouring the offender), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. A total of 22 people have been named as accused and 8 of them have been declared wanted accused. The police have 196 witnesses as part of their evidence and six forensic lab reports that contain telephone conversations between the likes of Meiyappan, Vindoo and several others. (Rauf claims innocence) According to sources, Gurunath may be charged for fixing as well based on the following points in the chargesheet: # On 12th May in a match between CSK and RR, Gurunath bet 'against' his own team. In this match CSK lost. Gurunath was aware that his team would lose. (Whether Gurunath has asked his team to lose on purpose or he knew of the adverse conditions under which his team was playing and hence guessed that his team would lose is a matter that will be raised). # On 19th May in a conversation between Gurunath and Vindoo at 19:26 hrs, Gurunath told Vindoo - ' we are going to win hundred percent'. CSK won that match. # On 12th May in a conversation between Guru and Vindoo, Guru tells Vindoo that his team will make runs anywhere between 130 and 140. That days CSK made exactly 141 runs. The match was between CSK and RR. # On 13th May at 14:45 hrs Vindoo called Guru asking what was he doing ? Guru replied that he was sitting in his boat and watching the match. Vindoo says - why are you sitting in your boat, go sit with your team and pass on information to me, so that I can place bets.
Some interesting points coming out

September 18 - Srinivasan says I will stand for BCCI President elections on September 29 September 20 - Mumbai police decides to file a charge sheet against Guru in the IPL fixing scandal It is helping (intentionally or not) a certain man named Sharad Pawar. Wait for more fun during the AGM.

A day before CSK's CLT20 first game. Good job MI/Mumbai police. :nice:
Surely CSK is not the biggest threat nor is MI the favorite to win. This is some Lahori logic

don't think I hate anyone more than pawar when it comes to cricket, more than few pak and Aussie players n a certain umpire

Gurunath Meiyappan' date= the son-in-law of N Srinivasan, bet against his own team CSK - Mumbai police.
See OP. He knew in advance when CSK will win or lose

if true (he knew in advance they will win or lose) before the match was played then IMO this raises a very serious question. Did the CSK players know about this?

IMO CSK need to withdraw from the champions league. I have to be honest i was uncomfortable with RR taking part as well. I love RR as my second team but even they have Raj Kundra still as an owner from what i know. Both Mayappan and Kundra had inside information on the team composition at the very least and may have ideas about tactics and the pitch. Btw i am not suggesting the other IPL teams are squeaky clean. But those who get caught need to be disciplined. I support MI but would not be surprised if some **** does come out about them or for that matter any IPL team. However if teams just continue without severe ramifications, then IMO its just a matter of time before people do it again. This time owners will be careful and not use phones

Just showing the match, RR vs CSK where Meyippan predicted around 140 runs. CSK were 84 for 1 in 11 overs with Hussey out. Raina and Dhoni get out cheaply. Jadeja does not hit a single 4 and ends on 12 of 14. Bravo hit some runs including last ball 4. Team ends at 141 for 4 and RR win easily Mumbai police have asked ICC to investigate this match

12.1 Cooper to Raina, OUT, Raina goes, what was he doing? Long-off was near the ropes and he just drove it uppishly towards him, didn't time it as well, comfortable catch
:nervous:..
