FischerTal
Pandey is a nodbody as of now with a trundling pace...when Ishant broke in he was a special talent.....so was the case with Sree,RP and Pathan or even wit Aaron,Shami and Yadav. Pandey has nothing going for him in comparison with any of the names I mentioned pandey a nobody? he's been our best bowler for past two ranji seasons along with pankaj. for breaking in part, he hasn't even played an international game so i don't see how you can compare him with anyone in that list. tweaker
Pandey if given a chance in England can be successful against English batsman Link to comment
fineleg
pandey a nobody? he's been our best bowler for past two ranji seasons along with pankaj. So was 'ami daaku Ronadeb Bose'. I am not sayng anythng bad abt Pandey, good luck to that guy, hope he has success in England. But - Domestics cannot be used to clearly evaluate medium pacers since even Vinnai Kooomar or Abhimanyu Mithun or Unadkat or Achoke Dinda take wickets in domestics. Good luck to Pandey, but English batsmen may be more troubled by Umesh Yadav than a Pandey or B.Kumar (after ball gets 15 overs old). Link to comment
King Tendulkar
These seamers who clean up in ranji are work horse types. Long spells, consistent etc etc. yes laud them for this But they are not cut our for international level. Real fast bowlers who do the business at international level, cant go on the domestic grind and bowl long spells and pick up big wicket hauls and finish top of domestic wickets. If they do they would have turned in to trundlers due to the grind Top seaming wicket takers in English county cricket last year are not even mentioned for england team. Reason? Cos they are trundling work horses! They get this, why don't we? Link to comment

I'm really struggling to understand this "old ball" logic in not selecting Bhuvneshwar. Yes, he's a new ball bowler. That's why you select him as an opening bowler and other guys like Pandey, Pankaj, Umesh or (god forbid) Ishant to do the dirty work. Link to comment

Normally medium pacers in Tests need to be able to bowl with the new and old balls. Here we have to understand BK's limitations and maybe still select him knowing that. Link to comment

Trent Boult and Tim Southee are very much new ball specialists, although Southee has improved rapidly in that regard. Jimmy Anderson was similar early in his career. If you can be dangerous in the first 15 overs, that's 75% of your job as an opening bowler - especially for a team like India who always play a spinner. Link to comment
tweaker
Ishant Sharma is automatic choice in the playing 11 ,inspite of his horrible performance But new players are scritinised mercillesly before stepping on the test ground Link to comment
