Yes, you are right. But I had suggested it in a general way. Like I remember, there was this Irani Trophy match where both Kambli and Amre was playing and only one between the two would have gotten selected for India. I remember both had got runs in that match, but Kambli took some 5-6 catches as well (I think it was the same match where Kumble took a truckload of wickets to make his way back to the Indian team), and I thought Kambli would get the nod ahead of Amre; but it was Amre who got selected finally. But yes, Amre got booted out due to Manju's comeback, and eventually Laxman's arrival shut the door for Manju forever. Amre still retained an average of 40+ in Tests I think.

In retrospect, that over was a comedy of errors. 13 runs needed, and More hits two back-to-back fours. Next ball, he gets bowled trying to look cute. Next ball, Prabhakar gets run out trying to convert a single into a double Now, we need 4 out of 2, and Srinath cannot manage to put bat to ball. And in the last ball, Srinath hoicks one, the fielder in the deep misses the catch, but Raju uncle gets run-out while attempting the third one. Hilarious end overall.

Yeah, that was his debut too. And the commentator said he is 21, but looks 17.

If a batsman from S.C these days gets a 100 on debut especially in S.A conditions,He will definetely be given a much longer rope than what poor Amre got. Also I think he was a victim of India not playing too much test cricket in mid 90's and it did not help that he had a very average ODI record.
