Dhananjai Source Wikipedia. I have read a couple of articles stating that Dawes is working over time with all the Indian pacers. He himself was a pacer. The question is who do Ashwin and Sir turn to? Ashwin especially needs some tips and help if he is to turn things around in a short period of time. There are 3 days between ODIs. Both Sir and Ashwin are relatively new in their careers. You dont have a situation whereby Kumble has so much experience and can guide Bhajji within the team. One thing i will note. In 2013 Kumble has made a huge impact on the way Ojha and Bhajji bowled at Mumbai Indians. From what i know Kumble did not even tell them anything technical. Ie sort of analysing and coaching yourself. But IMO the BCCI need to provide spinning support. While we may never have pacers. We will have spinners with talent who we should be getting the best out of. Maybe in the recent series its a case of Indian spinners (one spinner in particular) not performing as expected of a spinner in the sub. Leading to even more pressure on the pacers in the death overs. I am sure had Ashwin been performing India would be 3-0 up by now.

^ exactly The BCCI should -- get a nutritionist to get players to eat healthy -- a spin coach But a spin coach is a burning hole which needs to be filled. Quite frankly i dont know why Paddy Upton was not replaced. Duncan Fletcher maybe needs to make a call on this. I dont know if he wants to add somebody to his inner circle.

I dont believe in "working with personal coaches". IE he makes you his only prominent charge. However i support one coach working with many spinners. Like a Mishra Ashwin Sir and Yuvi. In this case a spinning coach is more of a library who you dig to get relevant information. A personal coach is more of a tutor. Things are spoon fed to you. Thats when in a dynamic environment you stop thinking on your own.

^^ Yes the alarm bells should have started ringing when swann and panesar easily outbowled our spinners. Bhajji came practically out of nowhere well not nowhere nowhere got picked by ganguly and honed his trade - kumble didn't exactly let rip but our match winner on multiple occasions. So its not easy one to spot talent two to nurture it and three to give it a place in the scheme of things - fletcher has to get someone hes comfortable with - that way his say in team matters will increase as well. Right now ojhas alright just a tad one-dimensional but clearly you cant have everything done in a day - m sure given the backing he will do well but the management has to take a call and be quick about it. If the Windies were to bring their 1st team and play us at home can say wont be easy at all either.

As things stand, Pakistan and WI both have better spin attacks than us in the LOI and England and Pakistan have better attack in tests. Which is a damning state of things. I personally disagree about honing. IMO its not the job of the first team coach to hone people. That should have been done at ranji or domestic level or with India A. He is probably there to add those final touches and metaphorically press the reboot button in case of an error. Fundamentally IMO Sir and Ashwin are good international standard spinners. They probably are not world class but will do a good job for India in the sub and spinning decks. Add to that their ability to bat, they become handy options down the order and good utility players overall. We just need somebody to press that reboot button.....

I agree with G_B The hope of getting good fast bowlers is gradually fading (even we have MRF pace foundation, whom trained bowlers like Mitchell Johnson) , so Indian bowling dept can concentrate on wat they r good at - spinners. if we ever have a spin coach, it will certainly help our spinners to bowl at non-turning pitches. Hiring one extra coach wont hurt.

I don't think any mental conditioning coach would like to take up the job when he knows that he has to coach the likes of Ishant. It's too much of a challenge!
