Would n't a T20 series against T20 WI woudl have been beter than Odi

It is the only format we can see some competition from wi and we have not played so many odis this season .

No it's good we are playing some ODI's. We have a really tough one day series coming soon after this series in South Africa. The tour starts without any practice game probably, so it will be good our player are in proper nick before that. It's not easy playing odi's there. So it's good we will go into that series with few odi's even though it's totally different condition.

Absense of star players would bring down the revenue which is the only thing BCCI cares about. No point playing MSD, Kohli etc. in ODIs against WI.

Tour preperation is the best way to perform abroad. We always done well abroad when there were 3 or 4 3Day matches. But now bcci is more interested in making money so less time more internationals.

Better than nothing. If this series won't have been there, our players would have arrived 3 days early in south africa to play not a 3 match, but 5 match series instead, with out any practice game. Sadly, this is how our scheduling goes.
