Donny
Oh really ? Tasmania, the reigning champions, batted first at the Gabba and were out, mid afternoon, for 158. NSW batted first at the WACA and were 7/89. WA's first innings, same track, all out 99. South Australia is 8/162 in its first innings. Link to comment

Mr. Wicket
I'm starting to gain some respect for Nicho after that ton. Casson and Kat were the only two others to get 50+ in either team's first innings. Heartwarming to see the Blues doing so well even though the national selections have really hurt them (no Clark, Clarke, Bracken, Haddin or Lee). Bit of a surprise to see Ben Rohrer left out though. I remember his f/c debut late last season - NSW got blitzed batting first by Tasmania (53 all out), were made to follow on against a pretty fine attack and Rohrer got a big ton in the second innings even though NSW lost. Seems like a real talent to be able to produce runs in that sort of pressure situation, and I hope he gets a few chances and some runs this season. Link to comment

Donny
Thanks Gambo. Two players batting at #8 - in the same match - making 363 between them with neither being dismissed. Amazing. Wasim and Saqlain adding 313 for the 8th. wicket Yes Strang was a leggie but nonetheless a bowler. Wasim, of course, was a magnificent all-rounder. Records achieved in that Test remain unbeaten: Highest score batting at #8 in Test match : 257 not out by Wasim Akram. Wasim Akram and Saqlain Mushtaq gets cricket Test record 313 for 8th wicket. Most Sixes in a Test innings : 12 sixes by Wasim Akram. Nathan Astle and Matt Hayden have since gone close, with 11. Link to comment

Mr. Wicket
Jump? Mate, this is a quantum leap. Two tons and an 80 in Pak for Aus A, another half century in the FR Cup a few days ago, and now 151 at lunch. Whoo. :D Link to comment
Donny
Out for 167. Rogers has a possible 120 overs to answer on what now sounds like a good batting surface. Link to comment

But I'd rate Wasim's 257* higher than jasons.... Jason came as night watchman and he hit a 200.... but wasim came in when pak were in totters ...nonetheless, both require a pat on their back :two_thumbs_up: Link to comment
Mr. Wicket
Out for 167. Rogers has a possible 120 overs to answer on what now sounds like a good batting surface. Not much of an answer. Good batting surface, btw? NSW were 89/7 at one stage. WA 38/5 (and 99 all out), and now 44/3. Seems very much like a new ball bowler's wicket where the going's fairly tough early on in the innings. Most of the people making runs/hanging around at the crease have been lower order bats who've most likely come in when the ball's softened a bit, or exceptionally talented left handed opening bats who had better be opening at the Gabba. :D Link to comment
