maniac Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Imran khan is lucky that first nt too mant cameras that he got away with all the tampering, then got lucky with rain to sneak into the worldcup and then got lucky as he atleast comes across as educated and speaks refined English to look better than all the other joker politicians in his country. Now you can't beat that
MCcricket Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Have u seen them live? I have seen through videos and I doubt if they were faster than akhtar lee, steyn .Garner was fearsome with the bounce he got form good length but sachin has faced guys like ambrose and done well against him. Regarding Federer ? is he not in the decline for many seasons now he too has his weakness at clay. The point about facing the Windies quick is their pace which was fast and safety gear, helmet not being there, uncovered pitches, no bouncer rule, Dravid has done against them as well as Tendulkar, Amarnath was rated as the best players to play against them by the W Indians, what my point is he was g8 not beyond comparable or a non mortal or the best ever, yes the one of the greatest, best of this era, all that true but his fans have put him on a pedestal which is sad.
Zanjeer Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Imran s lucky he is going back to Pakistan unharmed after saying this..:finger:
MCcricket Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Lets look at this "Last "N" years nonsense a little bit and compare it with Viv Richards Below are the numbers for SRT and Viv for the last 10,20,30,40,50 tests of their career. M R A 100s 50s 0s 10 388 27.71 0 3 0 20 1070 33.43 0 8 0 30 1948 41.44 3 11 0 40 3044 49.90 8 15 0 50 4044 52.51 12 19 0 10 550 39.28 0 7 1 20 1053 36.31 1 11 2 30 1845 41.93 3 16 3 40 2456 43.08 5 18 4 50 3242 46.31 7 23 5 Viv Richards was way poor for much longer. It takes more than 100 tests for his avg in last N matches to reach 50 compared to about 40 matches for SRT. Considering how you are still drooling about Viv's reputation I suspect the numbers had nothing to do with it. The same will be true for SRT. It was very evident from the response he got ever since he announced his retirement. http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/52812.html?class=1;template=results;type=batting;view=reverse_cumulative http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/35320.html?class=1;template=results;type=batting;view=reverse_cumulative But Viv was never called the god of cricket or someone who is uncomparable and blah blah , he was a great in his era as Tendulkar, the greatest bat ever has to do better then average a mere 54 and then be compared with a Bradman who is not 10 20 or 30 but averaging 45 more then him, regardless of era, professionalism, compare the best in Bradmans era and see the difference the thing is , he is not the best ever or a god of cricket lol, he is the greatest bat of his era and a great human being that's it.
hhhhdmt Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Why is everyone so angry at Imran? It appears that this was more about praising Gavaskar than taking a shot at Sachin. Donald was one of the quickest bowlers i have ever seen. He was just as quick as Malcolm and probably slightly behind Holding in terms of pace. Donald was quicker than Garner and a far better bowler than Thompson. Mcgrath, while not as quick as some of the greats, wasn't incredibly slow either, he was round about 135 kph at his peak. Mcgrath was probably slightly slower than Garner. Not all the WI quicks were express pace.
hhhhdmt Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 I have never understood the logic of those who rate Dravid over Sachin. Sachin performed significantly better than Dravid vs SA and in SA which is generally a very bowling friendly country. Tendulkar also outperformed Dravid when facing a full strength Australian bowling line up (Mcgrath + Warne) whereas Dravid did not perform as well vs a fulll strength Australian bowling attack I am a Pak fan but i'll be the first to admit: Tendulkar is the best sub continent batsman of the past 30 years. Dravid, while very good, doesn't come close.
Chandan Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 So lets get this new logic .... Viv was never called a God of cricket hence we cant complain about his performances ... nice logic Who told you that Batting avg is the only measure of Greatness ? This is the main problem with Tendulkar bashers .... and where did Bradman come into this ? Bloody hell he did not even face bowlers like Sami . Why dont you suggest Bradman was a minnow basher then ? Why are you arguing with ignorant people? If they really want to see and read real arguments and discussions, they can dig out plenty of threads on this very forum. If not, let them live in their world. You just can't change their perception. As for Imran, I don't blame him either. Every era's fans and players think that their era was the best and the players who played in their time just can't be compared with players who come later. Hence Imran thinks that WI quartet were better than Walsh, Ambrose, Wasim, Waqar,Shoaib, Donald, Pollock, Mcgrath,Lee, Gillespie, Fleming,Steyn, Anderson Warne, Murali and so on... You just can't blame him for that!
Sarkar Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 imran and his logic absurd like always he said inzy is best player of fast bowling than sachin when inzy averages less in phaast countries they never give tendulkar credit because he was the one man that Pakistan,s fear all the time.

I think Tendulkar was a wonderful player.
thongale Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Hence Imran thinks that WI quartet were better than Walsh, Ambrose, Wasim, Waqar,Shoaib, Donald, Pollock, Mcgrath,Lee, Gillespie, Fleming,Steyn, Anderson Warne, Murali and so on...These guys may be better than WI quartret, with exception of Marshall. But the problem is none of the above made a bowling quartret. It was just two ATG bowlers for other teams. WI frequently fielded three of them if not four. WI of yesteryear is so good due to relentlessness of the attack, not only due to the presence of superstars.
yoda Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 People can only be measured on what they had to face. Tendulkar had his fair share of fast bowlers to face. Yes the WI were quite mediocre by the time Tendulkar came to the scene, but they are not the only team to produce good fast bowlers.

Chandan Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 But the problem is none of the above made a bowling quartret.. Mcgrath, Gillespie, Lee, Warne? You know how many test wickets did they finally take?
hhhhdmt Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 the likes of Lee, Gillespie, Fleming, Anderson etc were/are good bowlers but certainly not even close to the wi greats The likes of Ambrose, Donald, Mcgrath, Wasim, Waqar, Steyn, Walsh, and Pollock are certainly comparable.
hhhhdmt Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Mcgrath, Gillespie, Lee, Warne? You know how many test wickets did they finally take? Two of them were greats (Mcgrath and Warne) while the others were good bowlers at best. When i say "great", i mean guys who are real match winners. Lee was very good in odi's but average/slightly above average in tests. Gillespie never dominated a series from memory. Good bowlers, certainly not great Garner, Marshall, Roberts and Holding were all genuine world class bowlers and match winners.

Had they been so, their wicket tally had told us. It didn't. Likewise. not all of of Aussie quartet were great, but as a team they were lethal and Imran was lucky not to face them. One needs to give credit to great players of every era. But I don't blame Imran. One does get biased towards the players of their time; or with and against whom they've played.
Sarkar Posted December 8, 2013 Posted December 8, 2013 Imran khan and his whole team without bottle caps vaseline mints were below average team
