fineleg Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Moth2F, Steyn is an all time great and a legend. You are upset that he talked some trash? Well, if anyone can walk the talk, he can. He will come back hard in this Test or next, and India still needs to respect him, all credit to the batsmen for handling him, top batting in SA conditions. Just because he said something and you are upset, does not mean his legendary status or his ability to leave batsmen shell shocked, has dimnished even one single bit.

Agreed that he is a great bowler. Heck, he averages 22.xx; in this day and age, that is a great statistic. He looked lost at times today, and unless something changes dramatically with the conditions or our guys getting complacent, I don't see him making a huge impact in this match (damn ... I hope I am right). He may come back in the next match, if the conditions there suit him better. I don't care if the praise heaped on him is for his bowling skills. It's when our batsmen are labeled as "scared" and "intimidated" that I take affront. In this match, our guys showed that they can not only handle him well, they can dominate with flair. Now, he should just shut up and bowl. Second, I am tired of the "flat-track bullies" label that is placed on our guys. Of course, our guys play better on flat tracks. Who doesn't? The point I keep trying to make is that we play better on flat tracks than most others play on flat tracks. We play better in hot weather than they do. We play better with curry in our bellies than they do. That's why we bully people at home. It's part of the game, and our wins are just as valuable as theirs. Finally, fans of foreign fast bowlers must admit that those guys are only as good as the conditions allow them to be. Once those conditions soften a bit, they look less than threatening, let alone lethal. No matter how this series turns out,the intimidation question has been answered emphatically. The experts can take the words "scared" and "intimidated" and shove 'em. And I hope we never hear it again.
Brainfade Posted December 20, 2013 Author Posted December 20, 2013 You cannot call him only that. Probably his outswing can be easily negated in flat conditions. But he has run through sides for fun in various places. Every bowler goes through scenarios where they get blunted. That includes marshall' date=' hadlee, walsh.[/quote'] And every batsman goes through scenarios where they get blunted. Let's remember that the next time some random fast bowler runs through our side for 150. It does not make our batsmen "useless."
Brainfade Posted December 20, 2013 Author Posted December 20, 2013 now wipe that steyn from your face. Touche'!!
