Quick question on Dhoni

You know how he's always saying that he likes to keep it simple and not try too many things.. How come he always bowls part timers like kohli who's a batsman, and you never see a full quota even when bowlers have bowled decently. Maybe only 2 out of the 4-5 bowlers bowl 10 overs. That's not keeping it simple. The simple thing to do would to keep on a bowler who's bowling well (shami) instead of trying another bowler. Some of his gut instincts (ishant sharma, champions trophy) are examples where he hasn't kept it simple. I'm just wondering. Are they just words to add to his cool image? Nothing wrong in trying different things and going out of the box, as long as they are good decisions! Thoughts? Is it an indian thing because most of our bowlers talk about keeping it simple and "the basics"?

my two cents (not the user) Basically, Dhoni tries to do the best he can with the meager resources he got. our bowling attack is one of the most innocuous in the world. defending a total with our attack is almost like fighting a mad bull with a haystack. But a lot of ICF'ers dont have brain or they overrate *our attack* or simply hate dhoni just for ****'s sake. regarding usage of kohli... its for better maneuverability. we all know what legendary tigers like ishanth can do when pushed to a corner, they can turn a gladiatorial fight into Saturday night live comedy show. so its better to have some choice in the end, so he uses kohli when there is breathing space in the middle overs regarding why kohli's dibbly dobblies and why not rohit sharma's jujjubies... seriously dude, does it matter?

My advice to dhoni stop favouritism of certain player like rohit , ishant , ashwin , raina , yuvraj and pick player on current form and not there past record.Give player like ohja , rayudu and yadav a chance to prove

I don't think above is true....In that case, Shami could never become a regular.......At the nets, he find Shami very probing and immediately he was into the 11. I remember him saying that "Half of the cricket is won outside the stadium during the practise sessions". If Yadav is ready, he will definitely go for him......He is little too wayward for my liking now.... I always like pace and ready to give some slack as far as line and length is concerned but if u r a spray gun, then there is no point playing.... He is very good prospect and will be playing for long time

If they do not bowl those overs, how would they learn then. It is not about bowling out sides. How many times Aus bowled us out in ODI series? How many overs they gave to part timers?

Thanks for the responses guys. Regarding the quota of bowlers, i say you pick your best 4-5. Have some that are more economical and some that purely take wickets. Bowlers like shami and yadav will get better with more games, they'll learn where to bowl and how to vary things. It's important that our pacers do try different things if something doesn't work. You can't have a fast bowler waiting for mistakes, that's ridiculous. That's where dhoni's philosophy conflicts with the pacers, maybe thats why we have line and length bowlers short on pace as well. No one wants to try something else at the risk of conceding runs
