The Kingsmead surface had a reputation for being bouncy, but has become slower over the years. It has taken on almost subcontinental-like characteristics, and is expected to remain in that fashion. Two days before the match, the pitch looked unusually brown with a thick grass covering. That will likely be cut off before match day, and those in the know expect the pitch to be a little sluggish early on and predict it will take turn on the last two days.

How's that for a home advantage :emc: I'm almost thinking about putting money on India ... but I don't think Ashwin can get the job done. Maybe India should think about adding both Jadeja and Ohja .. drop Nohit and Ashwin.

It was a green top when India played there. We were 150-6 and Dale Steyn taking a 6fer in the first innings. Tsotsobe and Morkel both taking 5 wickets in the game for 80 odd runs. Nothing subcontinent esque.

Durban was not SC like previously, but recently spinners have enjoyed quite a bit of success here.

Durban pitch was changed since 2011 by the home FC team since Tahir joined to give him advantage and it was sluggish in ODI as well though I dont think ball was spinning a lot. It was slowish in nature.

They will need to keep that grass on to not let spinners come into play.

Look at the pitch. if its suits spinners, bring in jadeja, goodbye ashwin If its got grass, bring in yadav for ashwin and then use rohit/dhawan for part time spin.
