Some minority party was protecting them (there was a gathering organised by VCK and ML on pervious week). Apparently, the victims frnds (a boy nd girl) was consuming beer , and the rapists and their supporters tried to turn it into a prostitution case. They got arrested only after the victim's friend sent an sms to the lady SP, who intervened and made a proper investigation. Even then, there is still a media blackout since those rapists from wre from a holy religion, and exposure might disturb our secular agendas. And on top of that it would make our minority sympathizers look bad.

This is strange considering Tamil politics where media channels are affiliated to one or other party..Also why is this news not getting space in national media?

Just a weekly magazine covered this issue in a half page box. There r a couple of "neutral" channels here, but the always cover some mundane stuff. My frnd from kaaraikal told that the rapists got open support from few organizations saying that it violates some kind of "rights" and claiming it was fabricated. Some comedy happened in the SP office. It is very much possible that those rapists might escape for "being a minority" and the case gets forgotten.
