maniac Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Similar sounding alphabets were a challenge for me learning the language even though it is my mother tongue. I was never good at distinguishing between ண and ன. The other ones in your list are distinct. ந is typically used only at the beginning of a word. If elsewhere it will be with the dot 'பந்து' where it is pronounced as "ndh". ஞ is pronounced as Nya and ங as Nga. Other close and confusing ones are: 'ல', 'ள' - La 'ர', 'ற' - Ra Yenna Kodumai Saravanan idhu :banghead:
cowboysfan Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 tamil script is very confusing is it a sort of proto script compared to Kannada and telugu and you can see it clearly in the alphabets,kannada for example is very easy to learn.
