Australia took: 7 matches against England England took: 12 matches against Australia South Africa took: 16 matches against England and Australia West Indies took: 19 matches against England and Australia New Zealand took: 81 matches against England, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, India and Pakistan India took: 46 matches against England, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, Pakistan, New Zealand Pakistan took: 16 matches against England, India, New Zealand and Australia Sri Lanka took: 39 matches against England, Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, India Zimbabwe took: 48 matches against Everyone in the 90's B'desh: 79 matches against everyone since 2000

G_B_ Posted January 30, 2014 Posted January 30, 2014 I did catch some of this test match, I think BD made a huge mistake by preparing a pace oriented pitch. Maybe they thought SL would hold the advantage on a spinning pitch? BD IMO will struggle against Asian teams in BD cause they all know how to handle spin. They will improve rapidly against teams like NZ(which they have) or even WI and Zim. Just shows that cricket is not transitive by nature.

The 'time' argument is completely flawed in these kind of arguments; the number of matches played with some kind of continuity should be the sole indicator of judging relative merits. India actually won its first Test against England in 1952. That was the 15th Test match starting from independence.

So not bad considering the competition and other countries. You do know India was not a free country till 1947, right?

Also said Hazare was the big indian star at the time (could be wrong)
