Harbhajan Singh could manage only three wickets in the six ODIs he played recently against Australia, but that hasn't dampened his spirits. He is now working hard to make an impact against Pakistan. It is a rare break for a cricketer like Harbhajan Singh and it was time fulfil some family commitments. Harbhajan's family has opened a swanking new sports show room in Jalandhar and the offie was there to support to them. But what ever may be the occasion the Harbahjan's focus in on the upcoming Indo-Pak series. "An Indo-Pak series is always a very crucial one. And we will surely try and do well in this series and if we are able to come up with a good performance that will surely boost our confidence going into the tour of Australia," said Harbhajan. The recently concluded India Australia One-Day series was played with lot fire and it is being termed as one of most ill-tempered series in recent memory. But for an experienced campaigner like Harbhajan it was almost like a daily routine. "It is a little secret that Australians always indulge in the mental warfare and they pass comments to instigate the opposition, so that they react in a certain manner. But, we will all just have to keep our focus right," said Harbhajan. It is a new look Team India with a mix of youth and experience and a new skipper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni at the helm and despite the loss in the One-Day series he has full faith on his leader. "Dhoni is a very good captain. And as he is young captain he has to learn a lot on his way and we are all there to support him. He is a great guy," said Harbhajan. This is a much needed short break perhaps too short given the volume of cricket being played by India but like very cricket fan in the country, a series win over the arch-rivals Pakistan is what this man is also wishing for. Pakistan will miss Inzamam, says Harbhajan

Jalandhar: Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh on Thursday fired the first salvo at Pakistan, saying absence of their former captain Inzamam-ul Haq would give hosts India an edge in the upcoming Test and one-day series. Pakistan, led by young captain Shoaib Malik, will play a full-fledged series of five one-dayers and three Tests against India from November 5. “No doubt Pakistan are a tough side but without star batsman Inzamam, who recently retired from the international arena, we will definitely have an edge over our arch-rivals,” Harbhajan said on the sidelines of a promotional here. “Inzamam had the capability to turn a match around under any circumstances… His absence would definitely be useful for us,” he added. The off-spinner, however, said India would not take things lightly with allrounder Shahid Afridi and prolific batsman Mohammed Yousuf still around. “Pakistan have star players such as Afridi, Yousuf and Malik… We will have to play at our best to win,” he said. Harbhajan said it is important for the home side to win and be in a positive frame of mind ahead of the tour Down Under. “Victory against Pakistan would definitely boost the morale of the team and set a tone for series against Australia,” the off-spinner said. On the spat between Indian and Australian players during the recently concluded ODI series, the Punjab bowler revealed that Sreesanth and he had reacted to the Australian players’s comments and would continue to do that in the future as well. “We will give a fitting reply to their aggression. “Australian players try to put opponents under pressure through their comments and gestures… This does not work… What works is their performance,” he said.

Bhajji upto his usual talk again. Somebody should remind him that younger , less experienced bowlers have been consistently outperforming him. Bowling full-length yorkers and picking up the odd wicket in 20/20 aint gonna cut anything for him.

and I doubt they will be picked over bhajji...cant see that happening until bhajjis performance drops
Just look at the performances in the last series. Bhajji takes 3 wickets in 6 games against Aus at an average of 87 and an econ of 4.83 Kartik takes 8 wickets in 4 games against Aus at an average of 20 and an econ of 4.45 If you had to choose 1 spinner for the team against Pak, who would you choose?

I will have both in the squad...competition is good and which ever one keeps performing, keeps playing... I wont drop bhajji from the squad as of yet...

and what if you take the last game out of the equation? I think it will be mighty close.

he is young and he will get his chance..when one of karthik and bhajji performance dips down or are injured' date=' he will get his chance then he can cement his place in this squad if he is that good to outperform the others.[/quote']For me, he has already outperformed Bhajji. He was superb in England, came on, and took wickets immediately. Bowls with a lot of heart, and has an excellent googly. He got his chance, and has not done anything wrong. Got injured, so we brought back Bhajji, but Bhajji hasnt really set the world on fire....
