http://my.news.yahoo.com/mh370-detected-above-malacca-straits-2-40am-062617741.html Flight MH370 detected above Malacca Straits at 2:40 AM. This changes everything.
This is very very confusing.. So the plane re-enetered Malaysian air space and even crossed the entire country and somehow had enough fuel to reach Pulau Perak? Forget fuel (they might have enough too..who knows) But how come they passed over the country with no one the wiser? Conspiracy theory The flight was sprayed with poison gas/sleeping gas, all passenger (other than terrorists) took over the flight and guided it some place else... cudnt handle the plane and crashed somewhere in the sea.. but on the other side? nearer to andaman? :sherlock: Hope the plane is found soon before more stranger theories emerge... like time-space continuum breach, alien abduction...

How It’s Possible to Lose an Airplane in 2014

Whatever happened, it happened quickly, aviation experts said, and catastrophically. The fact it happened over the ocean–presumably the South China Sea, but possibly the Gulf of Thailand–means it could be months or years before before we know exactly what went wrong.
The most chilling thing about this is the fact the plane seemingly vanished without a trace. The captain, who had more than 18,000 hours of flight time, gave no warning, issued no mayday. There was no indication anything was amiss. This is not terribly unusual, because a flight crew’s first priority in an emergency is dealing with the situation at hand. “Aviate, navigate, then communicate†is the mantra. Airline pilot and blogger Patrick Smith says the radio silence “doesn’t startle me.â€
It is a misconception that airline pilots are in constant communication with air traffic control, or that planes are constantly watched on radar. Once a plane is more than 100 or 150 miles from shore, radar no longer works. It simply doesn’t have the range. (The specific distance from shore varies with the type of radar, the weather, and other factors.) At that point, civilian aircraft communicate largely by high-frequency radio. The flight crew checks in at fixed “reporting points†along the way, providing the plane’s position, air speed, and altitude. It isn’t uncommon to maintain radio silence between reporting points because cruising at 35,000 feet is typically uneventful. Some aircraft communication systems don’t require pilots call in; flight management computers transmit the info via satellite link. Although modern flight management systems use GPS for navigation, that only tells the airplane where it is–it does not tell air traffic control where the plane is. It’s a bit like taking your iPhone into the heart of the Mojave desert: Your GPS will tell you where you are, but you can’t use Find My Phone because there’s no cell coverage. Although it would be possible to stream data from an aircraft in real time via satellite, implementing such a system across the industry would cost billions of dollars, Smith said.

The plane needs to be located quickly. All these "might be" theories would be driving a lot of people crazy (not to speak about the family of those on board). Malaysian authorities are losing creditability

what if the pilot had gone crazy and wanted to do something... they should also look into the pilots background
There were two pilots. It is highly unlikely that two pilots would have such severe bout of melancholic craziness at the same time in same flight. If recent reports are to be believed plane was wandering around in the sky at least of around an hour after going off-radar.

maybe one pilot killed the other and took control of the flight. The flight seemed to have gone over malacca strait.. if thats true, then i really suspect the pilot. The flight was take control by someone who knows how to fly the plane and in stealth mode

For those who are more visual: fo0312_missing_plane_c_ab2.jpg If the plane is found East of Malaysia (Thailand/Vietnam area), the chances of mechanical/structural failure kind of tragedy happening are high If the plane is found West of Malaysia (Indonesia area), the chances of some kind of foul play having taken place are high

Additional challenges for the search team:

The news of the search being widened comes as Hong Kong’s Civil Aviation Department said it had received a report from the crew of a Cathay Pacific plane flying from Hong Kong to Kuala Lumpur at about 3pm Saturday that more debris was spotted near Vung Tau, off southeast Vietnam, The South China Morning Post reports.
A fisherman who was in his boat at sea, says that at about 1.30am he saw the lights of a low-flying aircraft in the area of Kuala Besar. Azid Ibrahim told The Star newspaper in Malaysia that the plane was flying so low that the lights were “as big as coconuts”.
And another man, about 30km south of Kota Bharu, is reported to have seen “bright white lights” from what he thought was a fast-descending aircraft at about 1.45am on Saturday morning.
Link PS and the stories about the co-pilot:
A CO-PILOT at the controls of the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 invited a Melbourne tourist and her friend into the cockpit where he smoked, took photos and entertained the pair during a previous international flight.
