Every where now before the big series with Pakistan is about Dravid and to some extent other two of big three. How do we phase them out or how do we inject youth in the line up, these are legitimate questions but let us look back on record of India in recent odis and examine the main reasons for the failure of team india. 1.Bowling is the biggest problem which has tormented team since 2003 world cup , there is no consistency in bowling attack both pace and spin.Zaheer khan sreesanth rp singh all have been very expensive in death. What can captain do if there is no one he can turn to either take wickets or stop the flow of runs. 2.Harbhajan who is in ODIS as wicket taking bowler has failed miserably in that role recently and the lack of attacking spinner in middle overs is costing india dearly , Kumble in his heyday was an attacking and run containing bowler which india has not replace yet. 3.Where is consitency from Yuvraj singh , Dhoni , other batsmen other than big three , recently the sachin and saurav look like the best options which India has , if they perfom well india wins. 4.Dravid's form he is very important cog in indian side , he is the glue which makes indian team tick , during all those record chases which team india had in greg chappel's era Dravid was there to guide these youngsters thru all those chase by holding one end up when ever we lost early wickets.Maybe break would do good for dravid because he is the youngest of the big three and he is MVP of INDIAN cricket in this decade. 5.Dhoni reluctance in accepting bigger role in batting , when was last time Dhoni played match winning role , he failed with his bat both in england and recent series with Aussies.Even in 20-20 world cup it was gambir and Youvraj who were back bones of indian batting not Dhoni.

They have to go some day...but not till their replacements prove themselves. They have to rotate the youngsters and the 3 biggies till the youngsters are ready. I fear that not all the chest thumping fearless new india cricketers will really last too long. Some of them have made a career out of inconsistant "I have done my bit " performances. If we force the biggies out too fast...we will be stuck with these guys. Phase out the 3 in the next 1-2 years...and without any bias. Most importantly ...let them know what is expected of the 3 and for how long .
