Fixtures: http://www.espncricinfo.com/county-championship-div1-2014/content/series/691689.html The ongoing games in this division are Nottinghamshire - Lancashire and Sussex - Middlesex.Both matches started yesterday. Lancashire won the toss and opted to bowl first. Jimmy took a 5 wicket haul. Kabir and Wayne White chipped in with 2 wickets each. Samit Patel top scored with 93 for Notts. to post a total of 270 with one wicket intact. Other middle order batters - Australian Riki Wessels and Alex hales made some useful contributions . The match has been delayed today due to rain. In the other match played between Sussex - Middlesex, Sussex folded Middlesex for 105 runs. Lewis took 4-34 and Aussie Steve Magoffin took 3- 21. In reply, Sussex are 86/3 against a good bowling attack of Middlesex.

Has any Indians been signed? afaik no Indian players have been signed up for the County Championships this year yet. Last year Gauti got into a contract with Essex for later part of the County Championships but failed to impress with just one ton to backup low scores in other matches. Piyush played for Somerset and did okay with the bowl in few matches that he played apart from scoring one ton against Middlesex.Somerset were something like 200/7 and then Piyush knocked a fightback ton to take Somerset total to about 450. Both of them have not yet got a contract, but i expect Somerset to sign up Piyush once IPL gets over.

Straight Drive Posted May 21, 2014 Author Posted May 21, 2014 Last year fixing was proved in UK court and i thought that was an isolated incident in county cricket. But then Lou Vincent has apparently accepted that fixing happens in England domestic cricket. It's a shame that English county players are losing their integrity even at domestic level. Tough to take these county results / performances at face value any more.
