Sachin=GOD Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 BJP likely to vote for Manjhi in floor test http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/patna/BJP-likely-to-vote-for-Manjhi-in-floor-test/articleshow/46221532.cms hmm risky game this.....hope BJP have kept all the factors in mind. That's a double edged sword - on the one hand it would keep Manjhi in power hence increasing the confusion in RJD-JDU and increasing defections but on the other hand it would give them time to settle the differences between RJD-JDU-Cong regarding seat sharing etc. Also, if Manjhi survives then there are chances that he will dissolve the assembly immediately. He has already started announcing a LOT of new schemes (today he announced free electricity for farmers till 5 KW and said he might increase it to 10KW if he survives)....I expect more announcements till 20th.
asterix Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 GB, what's going on in Maharashtra between SS and BJP? Can't these feckers settle down and do some Governance?
G_B_ Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 GB' date=' what's going on in Maharashtra between SS and BJP? Can't these feckers settle down and do some Governance?[/quote'] There are two problems Phadnavis-Khadse fight.... Khadse has never gotton over (a) being passed over for a junior (b) not being given the home ministry (which Phadnavis kept for himself) which is considered number 2. Sena being given dud ministries and powerful ministries like Industries are being stripped of their power by Phadnavis. Phadnavis is running maharashtra similar to Modi in Guj. Via a series of bureaucrats. Its cause major issues within the state BJP and also their ally the shiv sena. The sena is saying to themselves, whats the point of being in power when we are kept out of major decisions? Best we might as well sit out considering the BJP are not allowing us any say. I have not even got to speaking about the smaller allies of the BJP in the state. They have been left out to dry. I dont think anybody really likes the BJP anymore. Wont be surprised if the Sena and three smaller allies break and float their own front next time around. The governance is not being affected though. Say what you may about Phadnavis but he is giving so many interviews and poping up everywhere to boost FDI into Maha. He has even put his foot down on populist measures. So one cant really fault him (or even Khadse) on the governance issue. yet. The solution is simple, Sena gets one more bearth in the union cabinet and the BJP backs of the ministries given to the Sena. Let them run industries environment etc without Phadnavis taking away the powers of their ministry and the junior ministers too need to be involved in decisions. They have made Munde loyalist and right hand man Raosaheb Danve BJP state unit president so he is expected to smoothen over issues by clearing the air the Munde faction is close to the sena. Having said everything, thats how maharashtra politics works. BJP-Sena or Congress-NCP they always have a stab at each other when it power. There was bitter infighting when Prithviraj Chavan became CM. The NCP hated him cause he stripped a lot of the NCP ministers of power. Thats just the way it is. Dont read too much into Sena outbursts. They make money selling the samna newspaper. Earns them about 50-60 crore a year through various means. So they need to sensationalise things a bit.
asterix Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Why can't BJP learn to take along all its allies? Really shameful the way they treated the smaller allies in Maharashtra... Why don't they learn and adapt? Now Modi hobnobbing with Pawar, to piss off SS. If ModI's in Mumbai, no harm in meeting UT... Why they are so hard nosed? I don't know what the feck are they doing in J/K....
G_B_ Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Why can't BJP learn to take along all its allies? Really shameful the way they treated the smaller allies in Maharashtra... Why don't they learn and adapt? Now Modi hobnobbing with Pawar, to piss off SS. If ModI's in Mumbai, no harm in meeting UT... Why they are so hard nosed? I don't know what the feck are they doing in J/K.... Its not just their smaller allies. The likes of Twade and Punkaja Munde too have been sidelined. Phadnavis is hogging a lot of ministries. Two men (Phadnavis and Khadse) and 25-30 civil servants rule maharashtra. I think Modi visiting Pawar the BJP wants to send a message to the Sena that it will not tolerate outbursts. However that is a really lame way to send a message. Every tom dick and harry knows Mohan Bhagwat of the RSS will be livid if any deal is made with Pawar. He hates Pawar with a gusto. Even the sena knows this. Uddhav Thakarey was forced into accepting the BJP proposal for stability on the basis of his MLA's wanting power. Now that his MLA's know that they are not being allowed to make any decisions they too will back sitting out of the government. What the BJP have effectively done is allowed Uddhav to prove that his flock that the BJP wont give them power even if they defect to the BJP or are part of the government. Its made his position quite strong. The BJP NCP tie up even unofficially will just not work. Both the NCP and the BJP will bleed votes to the Congress and Sena respectively. The difference between right and left wing is clearly defined in maharashtra. Its not like Bihar whereby Paswan makes the jump between Lalu and the BJP at the blink of the eye. The NCP especially will be fecked pretty bad with the MIM and Congress eating its votes. Even Pawar knows this. Pawar will work out a deal with the BJP whereby he will abstain in the rajya sabha etc in return for favours on projects linked to his interests. But join the BJP? Thats political suicide. Even he knows that. Phadnavis has already initiated probes against Ajit Pawar and Tatakre. How bad will it look that you are in bed with the same party you initiated a probe against?
G_B_ Posted February 12, 2015 Posted February 12, 2015 Also like to add the SAD is doing the same thing to the BJP what the BJP is doing to the Sena. In both cases the stronger ally has given really *****y ministries to the junior partner. I hope the SAD-BJP and BJP-Sena give each other most say in the government. Because otherwise it makes sense for the BJP in Punjab and Sena in Maharashtra to quit the government. The BJP in Punjab need to demand home or deputy cm next time around. They have no say in governance and are dragged into the drug issues of the SAD

Allies were going well till they were being managed by reasonable BJP leaders - Modi/Shah are so arrogant that they treat allies as inferiors thus these problems. Shiv Sena had been allies for 25 years...SAD also for a long time...same with Nitish - all started having problems only when Modi started managing BJP affairs.

Same leaders who lost 2 elections , bought BJP to 100 seats ? wanted safe seats in LS elections? or this is some imaginary leaders? :hmmmm2:

Two men (Phadnavis and Khadse) and 25-30 civil servants rule maharashtra. Just because she was Gopinath Munde's daughter? Thsi is her first time as MLA,let her spend some time in doing good for her constituency and learn things.

Shiv Sena had been allies for 25 years...SAD also for a long time...same with Nitish - all started having problems only when Modi started managing BJP affairs. Those reasonable BJP leaders, though great leaders in their respective way, would have never seen BJP emerge as the number 1 party in Maharashtra. It would have remained in the shadows of the Shiv Sena. And as for Nitish, his ego got too big for his own good. He thought he was Prime Ministerial material. Had he stayed with NDA, he could have comfortably got 20 - 25 seats and been a Union Cabinet minister with some important ministry and not struggling to regain his CM seat as he is doing today.

Supporting Manjhi is a great move. If there is one caste which doesn't vote for bjp, its the scheduled caste. If bjp can get their vote in the next elections in Bihar, no one can stop them. They are as powerful as yadavs when it comes to voting as a group. BSP played a big role in Delhi elections by supporting AAP. They always get 12-13 vote share in Delhi.

G_B_ Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Supporting Manjhi is a great move. If there is one caste which doesn't vote for bjp' date= its the scheduled caste. BSP played a big role in Delhi elections by supporting AAP. They always get 12-13 vote share in Delhi. not really. In Maharashtra Haryana especially SC heavily voted for the BJP. In UP as well the BJP ate into the BSP vote. Amit shah has achieved major inroads into that community. In the lok sabha polls 40% of the SC community voted for the NDA in Bihar. Obviously this is a great chance to make it 80% and sweep that segment. But its not fair to say the SC community does not vote for the BJP. In some states they do in other states they dont. In Rajasthan Jharkhand MP and Gujarat for example the BJP is heavily reliant on the OBC vote. It forms their core. In maharashtra haryana bihar and UP SC communities have in the past and present heavily voted for the BJP. In Karnataka its lingayat + upper castes. So it differs from state to state who votes for the BJP. In UP and Bihar whenever the BJP have been in in power the SC community have voted for them. In UP and Bihar especially in the presence of OBC based parties like the Yadavs and Kumris for example the dynamics are different.
G_B_ Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Re Allies I think in maharashtra especially after the elections the BJP has behaved like bit of a d!ck. Nobody is blaming the BJP for going it alone. They even ran a clean campaign on development. I still maintain had the BJP got 120 seats they would have still been on top within the framework of the 1990 agreement. Its not the number of seats but the type of seats you get. The sena was ready to offer them bulk of the seats in viderbha. But their three smaller allies got 1 out of 35 seats. Amit Shah sold them down the river with some totally **** seats and uses their votes as a gain for the BJP itself. The right thing to do would have been to induct them into the cabinet as a reward and offer them a route via MLC (or upper house elections) after the elections. Nothing has happened till now. Same with the Shiv sena. Fine you won and you offer them some portfolios. Why are you stripping the power out of those portfolios? You have given them industries then let them handle industries. Why is the need for Phadnavis to stip Desai of his powers in a cabinet position job? You think the Sena will just sit back and not take their chance to attack the BJP? What exactly do you expect to happen? Also with Punjaka Munde, why parade her through Marathwada if you are not going to offer her any serious ministry? Fine she has a lot to learn, but dont project her. Similarly Tawde. Has been a stable BJP hand in the upper house for close to 15 years. Been given education? Maharashtra is not Gujarat. Modi and Shah need to realise this if they want to win this state outright. Either break the state (i am in favour of this) or spread power around. Power is too concentrated with Phadnavis. Like to add Phadnavis is doing a good job governing the state. No complaints there. But politically is not a good thing with infighting within the state BJP and with allies. Been impressed with the way he has handled himself. Must be easily working 70 Plus hours in the week considering he appears to be popping up everywhere be is charity functions of economic forums. Have to admire and respect his work ethic.
someone Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 Somebody new and energetic who is a good orator is the need of the hour. Somebody who is local and knows the ins and out of the city and its needs. If nobody like that is found then Harsh Vardhan is it. The way i see it BJP need to add about 10% of their vote count from this election. Is Harsh Vardhan the man to deliver that? And wasn't that somebody supposed to be Bedi? The Delhi public was supposed to have the highest regards for her. A honest, well-known and a strong lady. On paper, it was the right and sensible move. It's stupid to use hindsight to say otherwise.

It was always a risk.
someone Posted February 13, 2015 Posted February 13, 2015 who had never fought an election and jumped in as CM...... It was always a risk. Did Kejriwal fought an election ever before he defeated Sheila? Nope. You have to admit bringing Bedi was a good move to counter AAP. Don't bring in hindsight each time. Of course, with such seats, internal sabotage looks very likely. However, the BJP cadre were very motivated on election day, they outnumbered AAP workers and were very optimistic. So the internal wrongdoings will take some more time to be revealed.

Yeah but the exceptions of a startup are different than a party which is ruling the country. Kejriwal showed a fearless attitude by taking on the biggest Congress Delhi leader and winning. Bedi was offered a lok sabha seat in Delhi and refused. She was then handed a really safe seat previously held by Harsh Vardhan. I dont blame the BJP for wanting to protect their asset. But you have to admit Kejriwal has been fearless. you get a feeling Bedi was a bit opportunistic. I am not debating that brining Bedi was a bad move. But the my subsequent post was to the future. Bedi is 65 years old. She will be 70 for the next election. Harsh Vardhan is 60. What Delhi BJP needs is a young dynamic leader in his/her 40s.

If age was such a factor, Rahul Gandhi would be winning elections. And remember, this is the same Kejriwal who quit from CM post and challenged Modi. That was not fearless, but selfish and stupidity from him. Of course, Bedi has lost but that doesn't end her political career. Kejriwal is a good example from political suicide to again becoming CM. Of course, you are right that their should be new faces added and Nupur Sharma certainly impressed me. She was the one who was challenging Kejriwal and looked good in her communication.
