G_B_ Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Didn't BJP come 2nd in Bongaon? Some of the reports I read seemed to indicate that BJP was second im both. second in the assembly segment. for most rounds of counting bjp was ahead in till the last round when cpm pulled ahead. If this was a matter or win or loss then it would have been probed.
G_B_ Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 They should definitely welcome him. Mamta is the face of TMC while he is the brain - has really good organizational skills and should be made the face of BJP in Bengal IMO. But obviously they should take some caution while taking him in the party (to prevent a Kiran Bedi like situation from happening in a state where BJP still doesn't have much of an organization or leadership). I am a bit sceptical about making him the face. I doubt he can get votes on his own. He is an organiser and can build a network and strategy around a mass leader. He would be like West Bengals own Amit Shah and no doubt bring a lot of the TMC administration and contacts with him. I doubt it would be a kiran bedi type situ. BJP had a big presence in Delhi. In WB they are starting from scratch. Its a new frontier. Roy is like the key to car(a mass leader). maybe he can identify that mass leader
G_B_ Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 "Our party's vote share has remained the same. The CPM has lost its relevance. In 2011, the BJP had 3-3.5 per cent votes and in 2014 it rose to 15-17 per cent. Now it is 28-29 per cent. This indicates the future ( bhobishyot er ingitbahi)," Mukul told ABP Ananda a few hours after the results were declared. http://www.telegraphindia.com/1150217/jsp/frontpage/story_3870.jsp#.VOOxPE0giiw

bulbul Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Dada is ideal candidate,i dont think he have enough commitments now.

bulbul Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 They have approached him many times and he has turned them down. Dada is very careful guy, guess he is waiting for perfect timing. Also he is earning lot of money from commentary and other stuff,so don't want to lose them i guess.

someone Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 These days BJP's gates are open to ANYONE who wants to come in while local leaders and workers from UP are getting more and more dissatisfied because of the prominence given to outsiders - this model cannot work for long. Congress being decimated means there is a large vacant space and significant floating voters. Thus, it's sensible of BJP to expand and catch those leaders and members. As long those members aren't given a guarantee ticket or role, surely it's a right thing for any political party to do. And if you talk about states like TN, BJP is no position to choose between members, they will have to accept all incoming members. Every political party does it, no need to super critical of BJP only.

Also, during Lok Sabha a lot of leaders from various parties joined and got tickets within 1-2 weeks or maybe one month while older leaders from the same seats were ignored and are still ignored now that those newcomers from other parties have become MP from BJP.
G_B_ Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Telangana BJP game for TRS alliance HYDERABAD: The Telangana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is game for a tie-up with the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) and ready to be part of the KCR government, saffron party sources told TOI. A proposal for a TRS- BJP alliance has been mooted by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao by which the regional party will partner the NDA and join the Modi cabinet. In return, BJP will be offered ministerial berths in the Telangana government. However, the central leadership of the BJP is yet to take a view on the matter. The alliance proposal, that has been in the air for the last one week, apparently came up for discussion during the one-to-one meeting KCR had with Modi on Monday evening also. KCR has offered two ministerial berths to BJP, besides an unspecified number of corporation chairmen posts. Though not stated explicitly, TRS wants ministerial berths at the Centre. TDP has two ministers in the Modi government and TRS would want equal representation. The BJP, if TRS becomes part of the NDA, will also get support in the Rajya Sabha where the numbers are stacked against it. KCR is seeking an alliance with BJP to kill two birds with one stone. Firstly, he wants help to stymie TDP's ambitions in Telangana. With Naidu kick-starting his tour in the new state to strengthen the party's base, KCR is feeling a bit uneasy. A tie-up with BJP will help him keep TDP in check. Moreover, being part of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance will help the TRS get some sort of preferential treatment from the Centre at a time when it needs additional resources. Also, being part of NDA will also give TRS the same leverage as TDP in dealing with inter-state rows, especially with regard to sharing of water and power. Sources in the KCR camp say that their chief minister hit it off with Modi immediately and this has encouraged the TRS supremo to float the alliance proposal. Sources also aver that the idea first found favour with former BJP Union minister Ch Vidyasagar Rao, who is now Maharashtra governor. The governor, in view of his position, is not in active politics now. It is noteworthy that after meeting Modi, KCR flew to Mumbai on Monday night and made a courtesy call on Vidyasagar Rao. The latter also hosted a lunch on the occasion of KCR's birthday on Tuesday. The local BJP unit's thinking is that the party is making no headway in Telangana and assuming ministerial positions might help the party consolidate its base in the state. Also, the bigwigs of the local party unit say that, if required, BJP can part ways with TRS in 2018, a year ahead of the elections and go solo. The in-between period could be used to ready the party to win elections in 2019. A TRS tie-up with BJP is likely to anger MIM and also the Muslims. Till now, KCR has kept Muslims in good humour praising the Nizam and the Golconda emperors. How KCR will deal with the alienation of the Muslims, if a tie-up does take place, remains to be seen. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/hyderabad/Telangana-BJP-game-for-TRS-alliance/articleshow/46279892.cms
G_B_ Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 not sure the BJP should be ditching the TDP..... Rao is a snake who played even the congress. I just dont trust the guy. He was first part of UPA then NDA . Then he was part of the TDP alliance which took on the congress in the state. So he has been with everybody. Maybe the BJP in Telangana needs to go for long term growth. Its unfortunate they have not been able to make inroads considering the congress are in decline. But they need to stick it out. At the very least they need to concentrate on the greater hyderabad municipal corporation with the TDP.
Texan Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 they have inducted much worse... But if he is just good with organization skills and not a vote magnet, then why welcome someone like him while BJP is attacking TMC on the Saradha scam. Amit Shah has good organization skills. What BJP really needs is a face in Bengal.

Rao grabbed all their good leaders and inducted them in his party same for congress. Trs will proabably winning next couple of terms in state so for BJp to stay in power they need Trs. They are anyway not that infuencial in telangana. Building Bjp in Telangana is difficult as we have large Muslim population.bjp lacks clarity on how to build their party in the state they have been contesting in state for long time but never won more seats.
G_B_ Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 ^ at the very least its best if the BJP wait for the GHMC polls and then make a call. There is no rush
G_B_ Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Despite the bypoll wins in West Bengal the rumours of Mukul Roy and his faction drifting to the BJP are getting louder by the minute.... Should the BJP welcome him? Will bring tremendous organisation strength to the state unit. A cornered Roy, known for his organisational skills, has been trying to get close to BJP but the saffron outfit has decided against taking him on board. BJP, which has been gaining ground in Bengal riding the Saradha scam that has been linked to many TMC leaders including Roy, cannot afford to include the tainted TMC general secretary in its fold. State BJP leaders and national secretary in-charge of Bengal Siddharth Nath Singh is learnt to have communicated this to the party's central leadership, which is learnt to be in agreement with Singh's views. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Jilted-by-Mamata-Banerjee-Mukul-Roy-tries-to-cosy-up-to-BJP-but-fails/articleshow/46306776.cms The BJP will hope that Roy floats his own outfit and manages to dent the trinamool vote share. I personally would have inducted Roy, but it would be seen as two faced i guess.
Texan Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 Yes, that is exactly what they need to do. Let Roy form his own party and cut into the TMC voteshare. On the same lines, in Bihar let Manjhi form his own party and cut into JDU voteshare. The more cornered contest it becomes, the more BJP gains.
G_B_ Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 not so easy simply forming a party..... its an exogenous event not in control of the BJP In an ideal case Manjhi forms a party and starts mouthing off against nitish and upper castes (which pushes them all into the arms of the BJP) while Pappu Yadav manages to split the yadav vote and manages to get about 9-10% of the total vote share. Similarly Roy takes half the trinamool leaders with him and forms a new party which manages to get 10% of the vote. Both are highly optimistic scenarios. In both Bihar and West Bengal the BJP are highly dependent on a disorganised opposition where the votes are split. In Bihar IMO the BJP combine is range bound between 35-45%. The likes of the Jd(u) and RJD if they manage to make their alliance gell along with the congress can get 50% plus of the vote and smash the bjp
G_B_ Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 BJP first list of candidates for Kolkata Municipality polls by March 10 http://www.dnaindia.com/india/report-bjp-first-list-of-candidates-for-kolkata-municipality-polls-by-march-10-2063700 wise move one of the major issues with delhi was candidates were declared too late. AAP candidates where campaigning nearly 1-2 months before the election
G_B_ Posted February 24, 2015 Posted February 24, 2015 The punjab civic polls are also coming up. Many places the BJP is fighting on is own though in most places the BJP is with the SAD. They will reveal a lot about the BJP's role in the state and where they stand. From what i know the popular vote of the BJP is at 15% Akalis are at 25-30%. Congress is at about 35-40%. This should be tested in this municipal elections. I feel the best bet for the BJP considering AAP will field candidates in 2017 will be if they have a strong showing. After that they can bargain for 30-35 seats from the Akalis which will lead to them potentially having a better say in government and getting deputy CM and/or home ministry and a better share of the lok sabha seats. The congress totally falling away in Punjab is not good news for the BJP and it will boost the hand of the SAD. The BJP in Punjab need a stronger congress (but not too strong). If AAP comes and splits the congress vote then the SAD may even contemplate going it alone.
