Probably has 5-7% vote share now .Definitely on the decline Problem for BJP is they don't have any known face to canvass . Even last LS election they mostly relied on Vijayakanth for campaigning and thats the problem. I dont think there is a shortage of manpower and cadre. Its just that nobody knows who their leaders are. Its a chicken and egg scenario. In order to form government or be part of government they need to ally with DMK/AIADMK. That might get few of their leaders "known". But at the same time they give up this DMK/AIADMK corruption etc line. Its the same situation facing BJP in Telangana. The party is split down the middle. Form government with KCR at centre and state and dump the TDP to get your members known and build a base. The other half says BJP is backed by same voters of the TDP and they will dump them in Hyderabad if they abandon the TDP. Its an issue which is spiting the party down the middle. In that state they are waiting for the GHMC elections to see if its worth it to stick with the TDP in the state. If the TDP-BJP combine wins that election then IMO a lot in the BJP state unit will be placated having something to govern/hang onto.
G_B_ Posted June 18, 2015 Posted June 18, 2015 Amit Shah Appoints 10 New Members to His Team NEW DELHI: After keeping the posts in the party vacant for months, the BJP chief Amit Shah on Wednesday made 10 new additions to his team of office bearers, some of which are also promotions. The vacancies had been created in the BJP team, as many of the office bearers were promoted and made ministers in the Narendra Modi government in November last. Those who have figured in the new list announced here are those rewarded for the recent electoral successes in different states. Shah announced names of three new three new vice presidents, as many general secretaries, and four secretaries. With the vacancies being filled in BJP, the focus would shift to likely reshuffle in the Modi cabinet, a move expected for long. Among the key appointments made by Shah are those of Om Mathur as vice president, currently party incharge of Uttar Pradesh. He was earlier incharge of Rajasthan where BJP made a clean sweep during the Lok Sabha elections. Mathur was earlier general secretary three times and even during Rajnath Singh's term as party chief. Mathur was made incharge of electorally crucial Uttar Pradesh, a charge that was earlier held by Shah before he became party chief. The other two vice presidents are: Shyam Jaju, who was presently secretary in the party. he is incharge of Uttarakhand. Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab, Avinash Rai Khanna, who was co-incharge of the Jammu and Kashmir, where BJP formed its first government has also been made the party vice president. Key addition in the list of power general secretaries are: Madhya Pradesh Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya. He was election incharge of Haryana, where BJP formed government for the first time. The other two general secretaries are Arun Singh and Anil Jain. Both of them were presently secretaries in the party. Jain was co-incharge for Haryana. IN all there has been promotion for three secretaries. Shyam Jaju, Arun Singh and Anil Jain. The four new secretaries are: Suresh Pujari, former party chief of Odisha, Mahendra Singh, an MLC from Uttar Pradesh and incharge of party affairs in Assam, Delhi MP and former Art of Living teacher Mahesh Giri and Farooq Khan, a former IG, who joined BJP recently in Jammu and Kashmir. Khan’s father was Col Pir Mohd Khan was former president of Jan Sangh in Kashmir. Farooq Khan will be the minority face in the BJP office bearers Mukhat Abbas Naqvi, who was earlier the vice president was made the minister. Apart from Naqvi two other vice presidents: Bandaru Dattareya was drafted into the Union government and while Raghubar Das was appointed as Jharkhand Chief Minister. Vijayakanth did very little campaigning in LS, it was his wife who was working and campaigning hard. He had his own posters in many areas but he himself was nowhere to be seen. DMDK adds nothing in both short and long term for BJP. And they cannot intimidated by such small parties and their extravagant demands. And you are correct on their declining vote share.

Ever since Narendra Modi was declared the Prime Ministerial candidate of the BJP and opinion polls started hinting that he had an edge over others, his so-called critics turned into compulsive haters that they always were (but masqueraded as neutral commentators). These haters fall into various groups and they could have different reasons to hate Modi – the common factor being an intense loathing for Hindutva – but now they have started hating India itself after Modi became the Prime Minister of the country. That they would start hating India itself was indicated when many started issuing statements about them leaving India if Modi became the Prime Minister. The implicit message was “I will hate a country that is represented by Modi.” And now they have started hating the country. Recent events confirm this development. Consider these three major events in the last three months that would still be fresh in your memory: 1. Openly distrusting and attacking the navy and the coastguard of India when a rogue Pakistani boat sank in the Indian Ocean. The Modi haters were more vocal and passionate in supporting Pakistan than the Pakistani establishment itself. Pakistan never claimed that India killed its innocent citizens, but Modi haters painted India as a nation that carries out extrajudicial murders without any provocation. 2. The widespread cheering of Indian culture as “rape culture”. While no one can deny that a lot needs to be done for improving the condition and status of women in our society, calling Indian culture as “rape culture” was as hateful as it can get. Statistics show that rapes cases are higher and conviction in those cases are lower in many Western and developed countries (even if we factor in for underreporting of cases), still Modi haters cheered and clapped when India was painted as the global den of rapists. 3. Stupid wish to see India fare poorly at the Cricket World Cup. As per Modi haters, a World Cup victory will fuel “extreme nationalism” that could spoil Indian harmony. This is as ridiculous as it can get. On the contrary, Cricket is the only thing that unites Indians of all ethnic backgrounds together. When India wins, and people hug each other to celebrate, they don’t care for the religion and caste of fellow supporters. Wishing for defeat of India only shows how a person has started hating the idea called India. And there are many more examples, e.g. commentators wishing for Modi’s “Make In India” campaign to fail. They are trying to convince everyone that India’s manufacturing dreams will fall flat in wake of competition from China. They are virtually praying that India fails and China progresses. These events clearly prove that Modi haters are now India haters. So what explains this? Well, their hate itself explains this transformation. Such a thing happens when a person hates someone or something beyond redemption. It is like ISIS hating “infidels”. ISIS hates everything about the infidels, so they genuinely don’t believe they are doing anything wrong when they destroy monuments or burn people alive. Modi haters have similar hatred for him. Their hatred is intense and absolute; and thus they have started hating everything about Modi. And now that Modi is the Prime Minister of India, they hate India. And they think, like the ISIS guys, that there is nothing wrong in what they are doing. The question now is – can India survive this extreme hatred? Can the idea of India survive these people who ironically claim to represent the idea of India? Brilliant article. correctly put, currently, one part of society has reached such an high intolerance level that anything Modi or the government does, they use it bash our country.

My understanding is that BJP is in a good place in Assam. They need to IMO distribute tickets to many who won the local body elections. There are bound to be defections from the Congress, especially in urban areas. Need to ensure long time party stalwarts and loyalists dont miss out. Lets hope this does not become another Kolkata Municipal election when there was chaos in ticket distribution.

If his caste base was Yadav+Upper caste he would have jumped ship a long time ago. Its just that currently his base is Muslims which will dump him if he goes with the BJP. Substitute Yadavs with Jats or Volkaligga for INLD and Jd(s) respectively and add muslims and you have a similar sort of party set up. All the parties are controlled by one family. Sub in Chautala and Gowda for Yadav. If the Janata pariwar was a pan India party it would simply be (dominant hindu caste of that state (marathas, jats, yadavs, volkaligga etc etc ) + muslims and other minorities)
