jonas10 Posted April 26, 2014 Posted April 26, 2014 We've seen foreign captains like Ponting drop themselves and put their team first. Gambhir has been utterly awful this ipl. He never was able to bowl his fielding has always been average at best and since his pokey batting is being badly exposed this edition he should drop himself and have Kallis appointed as captain. Doubt he does it.

Geniuses like you would tolerate his garbage play this entire IPL and if he has ONE good match in the final you'll justify it. Exactly why India accomplishes nothing overseas. As I said a real champion like Ponting doesnt have a big enough ego. He knew he was garbage and dropped himself.

Will this guy's giant ego permit it? No. As I said geniuses like you will tolerate him making ducks entire ipl and if by some strange fate they sneak into the final and the law of averages catches up and he hits a half century you'll sing his praises. Congratulations on your Afridi logic. The only Afridi logic here is in your posts. Do you think that Gambhir should have played in the WC final or not. You make it sound like he failed all the way in the tourney before the final. He almost scored 400 runs IIRC, after SRT Gambo was the highest scorer for India in the world cup. When his form went down after the World cup, he was dropped and rightly so. IPL is a totally different ball game. Ponting comparison here is ridiculous because Ponting competes with big ticket buys in overseas players while Gambo competes among local players to find a spot. Obviously the management feel that as a captain he still makes it to the squad ahead of players like Bisla.

Which is a good thing and what you expect from International cricketers. Someone in management has to give him ultimatum or something if he is to be dropped. Yeah an International player dropping themselves without management instructing them to do so is shameful not honorable. They shouldn't care what public thinks and should believe in themselves. He does have the best for team in mind, not what public is saying as they always do after 2-3 games. That was 99.9% chance the management telling them we can't have you captain. Not great players saying Im too **** to play in IPL some unknown should play ahead of me. Regardless of official reason they gave in a press conference. Put yourself in Gambhir's shoes and tell me how you would feel if you know your good enough for IPL cricket, have done well in past, are not too old. Would you listen to public and retire ie give up or keep backing yourself....answer is obvious.
