Why The BJP Government Looks Like UPA-3 GST/VAT Then: BJP states opposed GST on issues like revenue-sharing on petroleum and liquor; ditto for VAT Now: Has set a fresh, urgent deadline for GST implementation. Also supporting VAT now. Black money Then: Clamoured for making public the list of people who had stashed money in Swiss banks Now: Says there is no such list of people with Swiss bank accounts. To look for black money within India now. Opening up Insurance Then: Even as late as August 2013, the BJP opposed further opening up of insurance Now: Has approved increase in FDI in insurance from 26% to 49% Aadhaar Then: Opposed and said it was a futile exercise. Said it should be merged with NPR. Now: Has allowed Aadhaar to continue, is giving it more funds. Will link it to new services. Henderson Brooks Report Then: Rajya Sabha LoP Arun Jaitley made a strong pitch for declassifiying the report on the 1962 India-China war Now: Defence minister Jaitley says the report’s release or disclosure would not be in national interest Diesel Subsidy Then: Opposed the monthly increase in diesel prices on the grounds that it will impact Railways, farmers Now: Has continued the policy set by the UPA government Nuclear Liability Bill Then: Was instrumental in pushing a very high liability for N-suppliers, which nixed all progress in N-projects Now: Liability ‘cap’ expected to see renegotiations during Modi’s US visit in Sept. It seems we have not only elected good PM but also better MP's this time. Your MPs are getting down to business: LS productivity up to 103 %

The 15th Lok Sabha worked for only 61 percent of its scheduled hours of business, hit no doubt by the deadlock between the UPA and the chief opposition party, the BJP, which allowed little work to be conducted in the last year of the UPA rule. In contrast, in the past three weeks, the 16th Lok Sabha has recorded a 103 per cent productivity, according to a report by PRS Legislative. Representational image. AFP A report in The Times of India says the jump in numbers could be partially explained by the "brute majority the NDAS government enjoys in the lower House". An earlier report in Business Standard said the first ten days of the Budget Session itself saw 98 per cent productivity, while the Rajya Sabha's productivity was at 64 per cent. According to data from PRS Legislative, the last session of the 15th Lok Sabha ended with 291 Bills being introduced in the five-year tenure of which 37 were inherited from the 14th Lok Sabha. Parliament had a target of passing 328 Bills, but in reality managed to push through only 179 Bills, 116 Legislative Bills and 63 Finance and Appropriation Bills. Sixty-eight bills pending in Lok Sabha lapsed at the dissolution of the 15th Lok Sabha. That was a sharp departure from the average -- Lok Sabhas that have lasted more than 3 years have passed an average of 317 bills during their tenure. Of course, the 15th Lok Sabha was also among the worst in terms of performance over its five year term, with frequent disruptions over a range of issues including the 2G spectrum scam, coal blocks allocations, the Telangana struggle, the Commonwealth Games scam and FDI in retail. There was a sharp decline in time spent on legislation, reports have pointed out. The 2G scam, in fact, rendered the session held in November-December 2010 almost a complete waste with only about seven hours of business. The remaining business hours were a complete washout. In the final three sessions of Lok Sabha between August 2012 and May 2013, total time lost to disruptions was more than time spent on sittings. According to another PRS report the 15th Lok Sabha saw "the worst performance of the lower house in more than fifty years". In comparison to its 61 percent productivity, the 13th and 14th Lok Sabhas worked for 91 percent and 87 percent of their scheduled time respectively.

You do know that there's a multitude of policies? Are you posting this just because you looked silly with all your predictions? It's a serious question.

Fantastic Kamla Beniwal had this coming. http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/gujarat-governor-kamla-beniwal-clocks-277-flying-hours/1/374866.html

This is one governor who knows how to rack up the air miles-for free. Gujarat Raj Bhawan records have revealed that former Governor Kamla Beniwal used the state aircraft to travel extensively during her tenure. In the last three years, Beniwal flew out of Gujarat 63 times, mostly to her hometown Jaipur, between 2011 and 2014. The 87-year-old-now the Governor of Mizoram-travelled to Jaipur 53 times; the remaining 10 flights were to Delhi. Interestingly most of these have been termed as "official trips" even as the Governor clocked 277 flying hours. There is no formula to arrive at the public cost of these trips, but informed sources say it could be about Rs.1.5 crore. Beniwal's trips to her hometown have been shown as official visits, but she didn't have any official visits to any other city except Delhi.
Not only that, she sat on bills already passed by Guj Assembly for months altogether: beniwal-1_650_073114102613.jpg
