Mumbai: Is Sachin Tendulkar the batsman soon going to become Sachin Tendulkar the entrepreneur? Reports suggest that Tendulkar is in talks with Future Group to hold minority stake in the Mumbai team that will play in the Indian Premier League. According to sources, since Tendulkar already has an exisitng contract with Kishore Biyani's Future Group for developing apparels, sports goods under the S-drive and SACH brand name, the deal may go through. But the deal to bid for the IPL is stuck at the negotiation table with sachin's managers demanding a large cut in the pie. Media reports on Tuesday also suggest that the likes of Anil Ambani, Vijay Mallya, football teams from the English Premier League, members of the National Basketball Association (NBA), two foreign banks and even film personalities are planning to bid for IPL teams. The inaugural tournament of the Indian Premier League kicks off in April with eight teams. The floor price for each team has been set at $50 million, although the BCCI is said to be expecting the price to go up to $75-90 million. Ambani, Mallya and Kishore Biyani have all confirmed their interest to bid for the IPL teams, with maximum interest for the Mumbai team. They say it will most probably be a franchise model. A note has already been circulated by Lalit Modi to all the possible bidders which has the structure of the deal with all possible permutations and combinations. ------ :hatsoff:
