Sangakkara is close to 37 years now, fit and still making > 1000 runs per year in tests. Currently at 11800 odd runs and only 4000 runs away from Tendulkar. With his current form I see him overtaking Tendulkar in another 2-3 years. I had a thread about this few months back, but people didnt think so.From that time till now he had accumulated another 1000 runs. All hail the new great. http://www.espncricinfo.com/sri-lanka-v-pakistan-2014/content/story/768569.html

Very average record in SA and England for Sangakarra. For SC batsmen SA, Eng, Aus are most important and Tendulkar is excellent in all 3 even after his final series in Eng and Aus. Tendulkar has about 15 hundreds in these countries wheras Sanga has about 4.

SLC also has arranged a 4 test series with England in England in next cycle.

I mentioned 3 countries and said he was average in 2 of them. He has to be good in all of them. Tendulkar has an excellent record in Aus, SA, NZ, Eng, WI, everywhere outside SC in other words. Sanga does not. He may decline by 2015 and his record in SA may get even worse.

Sangarakarra next 2 years will be very decisive, his handeye cordination ,footwork will slowdown. It is very difficult for him to cross the next 4000 hurdle

Which team had the best bowlers for most of Sangakarra's prime? South Africa Where has he struggled the most? South Africa Where do great batsmen perform their best? Where it's toughest (Australia for SRT and then vs Steyn in 11') Is Sangakarra an ATG atm? No By ATG I mean the best, none better.

Tendulkar played against a long list of sub 25 average ATG bowlers and was the best batsmen in the world. Sanga played against 1 sub 25 bowler and struggled there. Sanga is consistent and cashes in big time at home but he hasn't been good where it is toughest.

Sangakarra's legacy depends on these 2 series. He's been poor in WI too. To me he's just a G not an ATG. For now. Eventually someone will overtake SRT as best ever, as an SRT fan it's tough but I accept it will happen at some stage. Sanga is not that guy though.

Two more seies in IND and WI will definietly correct his stats in those conditions. If he xontinues with this form hr may score heavily in SAF too. Doing it in DAF is difficult, because even Tendulkar didn't faced a fast bowling attack as good as curret SAF one with Steyn, morkel and Philander.

Yes, he only faced a rampaging Steyn (who was at his best) and Morkel on the Cape Town pitch. Made a paltry 146.
