MUMBAI, November 19: Even as the BCCI debates over who the next full-time head coach would be, atleast one candidate could soon be out of the reckoning. Interim cricket manager Lalchand Rajput has been handed a letter 're-appointing' him as the coach of the Indian U-19 team by the BCCI. Rajput's term will be effective from December 20 till the end of the U-19 World Cup in March, 2008. With Rajput's 're-appointment' as the U-19 coach, the bigger question of who will be the Indian coach still remains unanswered. Rajput has had a good run with the U-19s winning almost everything under his reign. However, sources claim after his 'near-successful' stint with the senior side, Rajput may not be keen to take up the U-19 job again. Which means yet another round of speculation. On the other hand, the coach selection panel comprising former captains Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri and S Venkataraghavan are yet to decide on a date to meet. The panel may still meet during this week's Delhi Test, but are unlikely to come up with answers. "There are no names on the table. What will we decide?" wondered a senior official. hmmm, so who will it be now??

:wall: How hard is it to get 3 people in a room? Can't fly them over to one city, have a video conference? BCCI is in stone age. Even if they meet, who will they decide on, when there are no coaches short-listed? I think nobody involved in Indian cricket wants a coach. The players don't want somebody to discipline them. BCCI doesn't want additional kharcha (coaches cost millions of dollars). As long as India is winning, there will never be a coach appointed.
