An outstanding knock to overtake him with. Came in with Akhtar breathing fire, and India in a precarious position. At 93/3, a wicket could have flattened us. It's not hard to imagine one wicket, VVS coming in and being blown away early by one of those 95 mph reverse swinging exocets and then the lower order cracking. Tendulkar broke down Akhtar with a superb display of stonewalling. A magnificent test knock with an airtight technique, an iron will and the ability to modify his game for the situation that's basically made a 1-0 lead a formality for tomorrow. Brilliant.
