Sachin=GOD
You are not getting the point. he did this inetntionally to project himslef as a Mahadalit leader. Its a caluculated risk. He was used as a rubber stamp so once Nitish work done he planned to throw manjhi anyway, mean time Manjhi tried to use the opportunity , now he can become martyr. He doesn't have that much of political capital to become a martyr. Also, Nitish is still the undisputed leader of JDU so irrespective of what Manjhi does, he won't become the leader during the election campaign even if he is still CM at that time. G_B_
Surely all this drama is making the jd u unpopular? I mean the voters will punish them for it right? The merger in the shambles. Jdu internally is in shambles. The latest rumout on twitter is that manjhi with 20 legislators will switch over to the bjp
G_B_
Jitan Ram Manjhi may dissolve Bihar assembly if he is forced to give up CM’s chair PATNA: JD(U) chief Sharad Yadav on Thursday called for a meeting of party MLAs on Saturday amid whispers that chief minister Jitan Ram Manjhi might have to resign well before the legislature party meeting on February 23, ostensibly to elect a new leader - though Manjhi is unlikely to give up without a fight. In fact, sources close to Manjhi said he is likely to challenge Sharad's decision to call for a meeting of party MLAs, with one minister in the CM's camp, Mahachandra Singh, as well as JD(U) rebel Gyanendra Singh 'Gyanoo' asserting that such a meeting would be illegal as only CM is authorized to convene it. Sources also said if pushed, Manjhi may recommend the dissolution of the House on Friday with another Manjhi camp-follower, Shakuni Chaudhary, saying, "Manjhi is fire, and whoever tries to touch him would burn his hands." "The situation is delicate. We want a smooth transition. Negotiations are on," said JD(U) secretary general K C Tyagi. Kumar's groupies have been trying to persuade Manjhi to make way for Kumar without a show of strength, which is unacceptable to Kumar. Complicating things for Kumar is the fact that at least 25 JD(U) MLAs are backing Manjhi and would vote for him should the need arise. Party sources said Manjhi may drop ministers loyal to Kumar before the February 7 legislature party meeting. They are Rajiv Ranjan Singh 'Lallan', P K Shahi, Ramai Ram and Shyam Rajak - all said to be behind the 'Manjhi-hatao' campaign. Manjhi has publicly criticized the road construction ministry headed by Lallan. Meanwhile, sources said Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav called Kumar on phone on Thursday and advised him to take over as CM if he was serious about taking on the NDA in the assembly elections later this year. His advice is believed to be expediting the change of leadership. Sources also said RJD chief Lalu Prasad, a key player in the merger plan, doesn't want to go too far in opposing Manjhi fearing it might hurt Dalit sentiments that Manjhi has been appeasing. Lalu also put the ball in Kumar's court saying he had made Manjhi the CM and it was up to him to decide when to remove him. http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/Jitan-Ram-Manjhi-may-dissolve-Bihar-assembly-if-he-is-forced-to-give-up-CMs-chair/articleshow/46138712.cms

bulbul
Haha... Opposition has to do nothing. Members of JDU itself are reducing its chances for the upcoming elections. That's obvious from the time JDU split with BJP for flimsy reasons. They got 2 seats in LS.
G_B_
The BJP needs to rock the boat as much as possible. Early polls will be chaotic for the Jd(u)-RJD combine. For starters they will need time to work out who gets what seats. I think the BJP-Paswan-Khushawha combine will be able to do this easily.

For starters they will need time to work out who gets what seats. I think the BJP-Paswan-Khushawha combine will be able to do this easily. Uma bharti already praised Manjhi few days back. BJP is fully aware whats happening. Displaying bonhomie, Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi and Union Minister Uma Bharati on Monday mutually praised each other. "Manjhi, who hails from a poor family, understands the pain of poor and he is a garibo ka messiah (poor peoples' apostle) in true sense," Bharati said after a meeting on flood problem in Bihar. On her response to problems of flood in Bihar from the rivers of Nepal and Madhya Pradesh, Manjhi said he was immensely impressed and satisfied with the approach of the minister towards the problem. "Wo do kadam age badkar boli pahle kiu nahi hua iska nidan (She went two steps ahead of me and said why it was not solved earlier)," Manjhi said expressing his gratitude towards the union minister. Bharati said there was clear cut instruction from the Prime Minister that politics should not come in the way of development. "PM has said to talk about politics only six months before election and concentrate on development in partnership with the state in the remaining period," she said. http://www.dnaindia.com/india/report-jitan-ram-manjhi-and-uma-bharati-praise-each-other-2057540
Sachin=GOD
^Obviously it would be far better for NDA if elections are held sooner rather than on time. Janata Parivar is yet to be fully formed so there wil be LOTS of problems regarding seat sharing and a few defections as well.

Precambrian
Nitish might be thinking he might have just given boon to his personal Bhasmasur. Somehow I get the feeling Manjhi is bargaining for more "C"s than actually wanting to split the party. He is a loose cannon, and wants to make maximum when he has power. BJP is playing the wait and watch game, they have nothing to lose and all to gain. All these dramas are stacking votes in their favor, either ways they stand to gain. If Manjhi stays as CM, its open surrender by Nitish, If Manjhi gets removed and he decides to split/dissolve, the best case scenario. If Manjhi gets satiated and gives the reins over to Nitish, then its right fodder to make political capital.
