A joke would the pitches of WI, or that one where Clarke took 6-9 or the NZ pitches in the 2002 Indian tour. Yes, bowlers have had to earn their wickets, but Harris, Lyon and Mitch have done reasonably, and so has Yadav.

rkt.india Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Gabba was flat. Actually haven't seen such a flat track at Gabba. It had a bit of bounce, making strokeplay easy, nothing else.

He never got to that level this series, so obviously they wouldn't be afraid of him.

He was barely 1-2 mph slower on average. Quickest 154, against India 151. Indian batsmen just played him well. Credit to them.

I even thought the Gabba wasn't the normal Gabba. A bit of bounce there but it just wasn't the same. Wickets have been suited for the batters more than anything I think." Wickets all over the world are becoming more batsman friendly with very little assistance for the bowlers. All 4 pitches during the aus series were batting paradises. The less said about indian pitches , the better. Unfortunately this is what Advertisers want , cricket boards are simply Complying

Indian batsmen just played him well. Credit to them.[/quote'] The quickest I've seen him bowl in recent past was in the ODi series against India before the Ashes. Also bowled quick against England in the ODIs following the Ashes series held in England. In last year's Ashes he had bowled in the higher 140s on several occasions and also in the 150s in some of his spells. Against India, the pitches were flat which also made our bowlers look worse. Johnson started of well in the first test but then his pace dropped considerably. In the third test he was barely hitting 145k. His average in the ashes might have been around 145k with quite a few balls at 145+. Will be interesting to see if he can get back to 147-153k in the ODIs. Anyways he'll only play the finals at Perth as Australia decide to continue their Cotton-Wool policy.
bharat297 Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 I think when the first innings of both teams combines to around 1000 runs every match of the series, you need to seriously question the pitches.
