IAC was not responsible for UPA's decimation. The UPA scams, which came to light in UPA 2 were one of the two main reasons responsible for their thrashing in LS 2014. 2G, CWG and then later on Coal allocation scam, among others. BJP itself was on the backfoot because of Yeddyurappa's scams. IAC just temporarily mobilized the anti-corruption sentiment in the country at that time. Once the anshans and dharnas got excessive, people gradually lost interest. After Kejriwal and his coterie, took over, IAC turned into a secular passing of the baton. One year later AAP was formed. Media had found a new shehzaada in Kejriwal. Delhi 2013 election campaign was a very good exhibition of political acting by AAP and Congress. Paraphrasing Kejriwal, "Humare pass Sheila Dixit ke khilaaf 370 pages/documents waali saboot hain". Like the Coal-allocation files, David Blaine made even these documents vanish into thin air once AAP formed the govt. Sadly, a lot of genuine folks pinned their hopes (continue to do so) on AAP. Safe to say, 49 day resignation was pre-planned. JLB is just another gimmicky bill. There is a reason why Kiran Bedi walked out of the movement when she did. The proposition that NGOs wouldn't come under the scanner, in the activists version of the bill, is the biggest indicator of their true intentions. You have a bunch of self-appointed Awardees and Nobel laureates, who are neither elected nor accountable to the people of India, drafting up an Anti-Corruption bill for them. :congrats: You don't have to be a genius to see what is at play here. Just a bit of skepticism backed by the curiosity to read. The other main reason why UPA got thrashed was obviously Modi.

What "rubbed off" man... When Anna Hazare openly criticized Kejriwal and never extended support for him (almost branding him a Criminal) - how do you expect it to help Kejriwal? Then add to that people like Kiran Bedi also deflecting from supporting the party. Credibility of AAP was hit badly. The fact that they even won the Delhi elections is thanks to incredible campaigning and going to areas BJP or Congress don't have guts to go (SC/ST, slums and Muslim dominated areas). Yes, I still contend there was no Modi wave outside of Gujarat and a couple of surrounding states.
Explain BJP's dominance in UP (secular stronghold) and Delhi (AAP's turf) during LS 2014.

Entire north India was under a Modi wave in 2014, BJP won almost everywhere. Heck, BJP trounced Kangress in Assam! Karnataka also went to BJP.

If Ajay Maken had said this you would have laughed and said he was saying this to shield Rahul Gandhi but since its BJP' date=' you won't admit that this is being said to shield Modi in case of a loss.[/quote'] And you wouldn't be making this argument had Advani still been in charge of BJP.

I don't think even Anna Hazare thinks so highly of himself as you are thinking of him. :cantstop: If Hazare contests an election in Maharashtra, there is no guarantee he will win his seat either.

This is because Media already anointed Modi as presumptive winner in pre-polls waaay before elections. This made everyone who would have possibly voted for AAP to go towards BJP because everyone likes to back a winning horse. Congress completely stopped spending money in UP and Delhi which left a gaping hole that BJP took advantage of. AAP could not establish themselves as a viable alternative as the smear campaign of AAP being Congress 2.0 was widely successful which hurt a lot of donations towards them.
Forget Congress .. how did BJP decimate BSP, which ended with zero seats, and SP which ended with 5 family seats even though it had won a landslide 2 yrs ago? BJP won in Assam, where it had never performed as well. In Bihar, Narendra Modi became and still is the biggest leader, bigger than Nitish and Lalu. It was a Modi wave. Heck, even the Congress, SP, BSP etc and even AAP admit that 2014 Lok Sabha saw a huge Modi wave.

Modi's top promises: 1) Black money 2) Anti-corruption 3) Transparent and clean administration. These are the EXACT 3 things that Anna Hazare campaigned as part of the Lok Pal bill. Modi is nothing but a chamcha to Ambani and co - same as Congress, the fact is they piggy-backed off of JLP movement to gain out of it.
Modi's top promise was a development agenda. It was this which differentiated him from others, as he had a proven track record in Gujarat.

Really? Which media houses actively did so, India TV and Zee News aside. How did they go about doing so?

It's not a smear campaign. AAP is nothing but a re-dressing of Congress, with a foreign-NGO base. Where did the evidence against Sheila Dixit disappear once AAP came to power? Why does Kejriwal rarely, if ever, speak of the queen of corruption, Sonia Gandhi? What are AAP's views on Pakistan? Economic and political ideology wise, AAP and Congress are not very different. Kejriwal's talk of decentralization is a big joke, considering how he runs AAP. Secondly, why did Congress stop investing in UP? I think it is because they simply realized that their credibility was non-existent and against a Modi-led BJP, they were toast. AAP's failure in UP was a re-branding failure. You can't win over a nation the size of India in 5 months. AAP's non-existent track record didn't help.

AAP hardly ever criticizes Sonia Gandhi, even kept quite in the National Herald case. Kejriwal owes her, she had used her influence in the UPA to stop his transfer out of Delhi. She is their lifeline for the future if need arises.

So you will attack me without proper discussion and proof just because I do not agree with your views? You sound like just another western Gujju who will support his state guy blindly until death... Nothing will convince you otherwise.
What is this Western Gujju you are blabbering... You are attacking others, LeoRahi.. If I say you are another Ahomiya Chewt Congressi turned AAPtard, would you like it?

Calm down. By the way, this is not LS election 2014 thread. Those elections happened a long ago and there has been analysis and paralysis of all that happened and why BJP under Modi won. You can look up video archives of different media sites and articles posted after election and you will see what drove those results. You might have been hibernating all this while, but we are now in 2015 and this thread is for Delhi 2015 assembly election discussion.
