Perhaps he was full of potential when he was banned, but he hadn't proved anything really. Averaged 40 in Aus, 43 in NZ, 44 in SL and 20 in England. He was successful only under highly favourable bowling conditions during the early English summer. No one knows how good he would be now after so many years of isolation, because even at the time of ban he was yet to prove anything big. Asif was a proven bowler at the time of the ban, Amir simply wasn't.

Meanwhile Sreesanth was a washed up player trying to make a quick buck on top of his already more then decent paycheck in the IPL.

He was only a kid when it happened. He definitely deserves another chance. Everyone makes mistakes and he has already been punished for it. And I'm pretty sure that he would never fix again.

Why? Is there a rule that I can use only one argument in a thread? These two arguments aren't contradictory anyway. 1. We know nothing about Amir's game now, because of his five year hiatus. He showed promise before the ban, but he did not set the world on fire before his ban. 2. Even if his class in intact now inspite of the ban, I would not want a fixer like him playing for India and very few in India would support these people. Of course PCB and Paks can do what they want.

+1 He was a naive ,stupid kid..must have thought "what harm would a single no ball do in a test match" when he committed the crime..He served his time and unlike butt or asif deserves a second chance.. Likes of Srinivasan,Lalit Modi are bigger chors and have done bigger crimes against the sport we love..

Sad day for cricket. This CHOR is allowed to be back playing for his country which he sold for few pounds. This thief will be allowed to play the game for which he was jailed. This traitor will be cheered by his fans again whom they betrayed. But then since the country is Pakistan, this is quite natural I suppose.

Same kid lied infront of media saying he was framed. Same kid intelligent enough to admit later that he did sold his country when he realized he had no where to run. If all minors are spared after a crime because of age the world will be filled with criminals. The Delhi rape case accused was also a 17 year old minor...Shall we pardon him too because he was a Kid? Yes he has served his punishment but wouldn't there be doubts every time a No ball comes along. Every result involving him in the squad would be questioned. There's a very small chance but what if he does it again? Wouldn't that destroy whatever reputation the team has left? Willing to risk all that and accept constant scrutiny to have Amir back?
