MCG twitter account says they are expecting around 80,000, so you may be right. Still a huge crowd though.

The only match that will reach the 90k plus is the final and ONLY if Australia make it

Either way, I don't expect to see 90,000 fans for an India-South Africa game in Melbourne.

Yeah, somehow this doesnt seem right. 90,000 people for a game which doesnt feature the home side sounds massively exaggerated. I guess we will find out on the day.

You can't increase that. For cricket it is about 48,000. Check MCG's twitter account. They are explaining how it is 90,000 at MCG for this world cup instead of 100,000 maximum. The same thing applies to Adelaide Oval as well.

After the tournament, the capacity is downsized to suit the normal requirements of the stadium.

MCGGG Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 There nothing like the MCG at full capacity, best ground in the world by miles, sadly we don't get to see it that often as the MCC members get guaranteed seats to all but 2 events, one being the commonwealth games and the other the cricket WC, and sadly 5000 or so MCC members fail to turn up meaning sell outs rarely happen. AFL games often attract 90k and are considered sell outs because of this problem.

They have fixed, properly planned seat plans.
