Of all the matches India played in that world cup in India (played first in bangladesh) only in 1 v England did India score more than 300 either batting first or second. In the knock-outs there was not a single score more than 300. Ie there was balance between bat and ball. The current WC has no balance at all.
G_B_ Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 and this is what i fear with the pitches in the WC In 2011 the pitches started off as flat and slowly but surely there was wear and tear and that managed to bring the spinners into play as the tournament progressed and the scores kept on declining. The problem with these characterless drop in pitches are they are pieces of concentrate.

brendan07 Posted March 5, 2015 Posted March 5, 2015 Nothing wrong with having pitches where the spinners are useless. Play quick bowlers- meaning genuine pace. Mitch Starc hasn't seemed to have an issue with the pitches

I would say ravi ashwin has been quite effective for India. In Perth v UAE he did not extract much turn but got good bounce.

Starc has found it' date=' so has Steyn, Morkel, etc.[/quote'] What Starc found was stupid shots by set batsmen, a middle order batsman basically having to play opener after a break and some beautiful yorkers at lower middle order batsmen. He bowled beautifully but his wickets had little to do with the pitch. And what the SA bowlers found was the ease in defending a 400+ total. The only bowlers who have done anything are NZ bowlers, but they are home bowlers and have benefitted from their captain and team's all put aggressive approach. Some teams (1 team) have done well. Its been despite the pitches.
