bowl_out
Sadagoppan Ramesh's commentary has been one of the finds of the WC... For the Tam folks out there, don't miss his Tamil commentary on Star Vijay. It is much better and far more entertaining than the boring SS1 commentary team of Manju, Dada and Sunny... Want to have a thread dedicated to some interesting quotes from his commentary... We'll try to translate some of them for the non-Tamil junta, but trust me, most of the fun part is lost in translation. Some funny snippets that I remember: 1) Dhoni 2nd half baasha padam Rajni sir maadri aaduvaru.... Rajni Basha padam 1st half la saanthama irupparu... Dhoni um ippo appadi thaan irukkaru 2) Suresh Rainaa! Rain na mazha, iniku Raina kaatula mazhai peiyardhu.. 3) Ball venna maadri vazhukkindu pochu, 4) Ivanga [Raina and Dhoni] partnership, Ilayaraja isaila, SPB sir kural la paatu kekara maadri irukku 5) Explaining Ross Taylor's batting - sangili la kattipotta singam maadri aadrar Link to comment

Marut
I watched some of the matches on Star Vijay. Commentary is pretty funny. Link to comment
Dinx - the Jinx
To be honest and no offence to Ramesh, these comments are nowhere near the standards expected in an international match. Sounds like Badava Gopi or Bhaski.. he can do this type of commentary on Celebrity cricket league, if he wants to.. but not here:nono: Star vijay are making a mockery of the matches with their tamil commentary Link to comment
MK55
Translate Plz..Have been hearing about his commentary for a while.. Link to comment

Dinx - the Jinx
1) Dhoni 2nd half baasha padam Rajni sir maadri aaduvaru.... Rajni Basha padam 1st half la saanthama irupparu... Dhoni um ippo appadi thaan irukkaru Eng> Dhoni bats like the way Rajni explodes in the movie Basha... In thatfilm Rajni is quite soft in the first half of the film and then unleashes himself in the second half. Dhoni is also playing like that now 2) Suresh Rainaa! Rain na mazha, iniku Raina kaatula mazhai peiyardhu.. Eng> Suresh Rainea! Rain means 'Rain'. Today its raining in Raina;s territory 3) Ball venna maadri vazhukkindu pochu, Eng> The ball is slipping like butter 4) Ivanga [Raina and Dhoni] partnership, Ilayaraja isaila, SPB sir kural la paatu kekara maadri irukku Eng> The Raina / dhoni partnership is like Ilayaraja/SPB partnership on tamil movies music 5) Explaining Ross Taylor's batting - sangili la kattipotta singam maadri aadrar Eng> Ross taylor is batting like a chained lion Link to comment
Dinx - the Jinx
The above comments dont cut it. Funny may be... but not something expected from an ex-international cricketer. There are 10 other comic characters who can do this type of commentary... What people may expect to hear from Ramesh is some technical analysis, some insights from his international playing days... bowl_out
I'll try translating a couple of them, but it surely won't sound as funny in English. 1) Dhoni appears very calm in the initial stages of the innings .... Just like Rajnikanth in the movie Basha where he is very calm in the first half of the films, but is a Mumbai Don, and turns violent in the second half of the movie 2) When Raina is dropped twice - Suresh Rainaa! As his name suggests, it's probably raining in his forest (Tamil translation of Raining in one's forest is a phrase used to indicate that somebody is lucky, or is getting a lot of what he wants) .... 5) When Ross Taylor tries to hit, but the bowler keeps him down - Taylor is playing like a lion tied to chains... I would be more than happy to hear some exciting stuff rather than boring Wasim Akram type of gyaan... In India, cricket = entertainment... Would love to hear RJ Balaji's commentary for WC matches Link to comment

Would be inappropriate for test matches. Just because Ramesh talks funny at times does not mean he does not talk about anything else. Link to comment
