eternalhope Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Need replacements for Jadeja and Ashwin. I know Ashwin did good in this WC, but we should aim for the next one in 4 years and I doubt if he would be a good option. Axar I know can be explosive with the bat, though he has not been consistent. I do rate him. Raina definitely needs to be replaced, if we want to win the world cup. He is a sitting duck against the top teams like Aus,NZ,SA and even England who have pace. We have invested enough in him and I guess it is time to start looking for the future. I hope we can unearth atleast one good fast bowling allrounder. NO IRFAN please. One good Left armer in the Zaheer class would be a bonus.

You want to replace half the yeam hoping somebody will pop out of thin air.Not happening easily.Only need an all rounder at this point for number 7 slot.Rahane if he doesnt improve his ODI average or Rohit if he doesnt improve his strike rotation could be replaced. Otherwise team looks alright.

Otherwise team looks alright. I don't see any point in having Raina, if you want to beat the big guns like Aus, SA whom we inevitably have to beat to win the cup. Axar is a like for like replacement for Jadeja. We gave Jadeja a long run and I don't see any improvement in him as a batsman. These two definitely need to go. We might find a good one in Cariappa or some other youngster this IPL, who could be replacing Ashwin. Those sum up the replacements I wanted. Regarding a left arm seamer and fast bowling allrounder we agree anyway.
eternalhope Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Batting prospects which come to mind are Samson, Nair, Rahul and Jadhav.
Ranjha Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 There is no one to match Yuvi's power hitting in India right now. He should be in the team at 4 imo.
P.B. Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Wasn't Gautam Gambhir supposed to be the captain once Dhoni left :cantstop:
vvvslaxman Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Wasn't Gautam Gambhir supposed to be the captain once Dhoni left :cantstop: He will retire as KKR captain. He won't have a sniff in the national side as a player let alone captain.
P.B. Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 He will retire as KKR captain. He won't have a sniff in the national side as a player let alone captain. Damn, how come?
vvvslaxman Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 Damn' date=' how come?[/quote'] He is past his prime. He had few good years. That's about it. India has plenty of good batsmen lined up especially for Tests. For one dayers it will take a while unless few all rounders pop up out of nowhere. Whatever we have now are mediocre.
eternalhope Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 It is just a matter of time that the dream of all cricketing loving Indians to get world class Genuine fast bolwers and Allrounders(not bits and pieces) will come true. We were riduculed for not having Genuine Fast bolwers, but we have them now though may be not World class yet. But the main worry is world class spinners. Even Lyon was looking better than our guys in the Tests. Ashwin reinvented himself in the world cup, the key is the ball dipping quickly which Lyon demonstrated beautifully bowling at a decent pace. hopefully our braintrusts realize this.
Ultimate_Game Posted March 26, 2015 Posted March 26, 2015 We need to unearth a couple of fast bowling allrounders and hard hitting middle order batsmen. I would add Kedar Jadhav to the squad and play him in place of Rahane. One of Rahane and Rohit can open depending upon their form but it's tough to accomodate 2 players who play in "block or 4" mode and find it tough to rotate the strike.
tweaker Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Kedhar Jadhav Rishi Dhawan certainly deserves a chance, lot of people are laughing at Rishi, but he is consistently performing in the domestic tournaments. In Syed Ali t20 tournament,he has just scored 51& has taken 3 wickets
BlueBee Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Rishi Dhawan piles up runs and takes wickets against the weaker teams in his group.
Sooda Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Varun Aaron and Sanju Samson should be given more chances now. Send back bhuvi for good. Kl Rahul is someone I want to see even in Odis. Why?!
bihutoli Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 The order in which ppl need to be replaced imo 1. Dhoni (needs replacement, has gone past his sell by date. Potential source for captiancy conflicts) 2. Jadeja (can't believe this guy plays for India, doesn't bat, darts a bit and fields well. He just doesn't have the talent) 3. Rohit Sharma - mental midget, minnow basher, does not take singles, selfish player. Occupies a critical position in the batting lineup where he does more harm than good. 4. Dhawan - hack. All his innings are too chancy, and is mostly found out against better teams. 5. Rahane - His technique is class, but doesn't seem to be cut out for one day cricket. Does not have power, nor really the ability to improvise. Just a definition of a text book batsmen. 6. Raina - Limited in skill unfortunately. 7. Bhuvi - Probably the most skillful bowler we have but he just does not have the pace. Unfortunately there is no real talent knocking in the sidelines to replace these guys. Aaron maybe, just because he has pace. But he seems a inferior version of Umesh Yadav as far as cricketing brains are concerned, and that must be humiliating.
G_B_ Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 If MSD stays IMO its going to be the same team regardless of how much debate. I guess pacers will pick up injuries and Bhuvi and Aaron might come in.
