K saw the cricinfo article http://www.espncricinfo.com/australia/content/story/857475.html Surprised to see Ashes squad announced so early. That too just after winning the world cup and not even the moment sink in particularly for the likes of Faulkner
Unlike others, we actually pick players that suit test cricket. Faulkner is awful in the long form. We have about 10-15 fast bowlers ahead, and his batting has a grand total of ZERO first class hundreds. no chance. He is rubbish in Shield cricket.

So Ashes XI Warner Rogers Smith Clarke Voges Marsh Haddin Johnson Harris Hazlewood / Starc Lyon Hope they dont choose Watson in the XI.
They'll go with Watto for the Ashes. He does well in England generally and his bowling is very useful. Plus he is a known quantity compared to Mitch Marsh at this stage.

Could have announced next week

Sorry, been a very long day at work. The reason for the early announcement is that the County cricket signups close early next week, these other players that missed out could get a gig over there, talking Ferguson, Faulkner, Silk etc.

It is closer than you think. This comes from the selectors. Watson will have to prove he can bowl 20+ overs in a test back to back. Don't be shocked if Watto bowls a lot in the Windies because of this. If not, M. Marsh will play.

Injured in the Sheffield shield final .Check the cricinfo article
Out for 12 weeks, they have sent (or will send) him to Germany to get an operation, unless that has changed the last 3 days.

Yeah sucks about Patto, never should have played in the final as I heard he tweeked his hammy a couple of weeks prior, he should have been put on ice then.
