Now that's a major s hitty work and takes a LOT away from ones body and mind. They should know that they aren't doing this for food, that food is secured. Then they will work more happily, with less pressure Different example - People have enough net worth (bank balance and property etc) and yet they take health insurance, why? Only for securing their medical expenses.

Suppose if one knows he/she doesn't have to care for expenses for food or for rising food prices year after year, one may not even take unnecessary debt that he can't repay later. And even if one can't repay debt and the lender takes away everything, one will get food coupons every month which will obviously be very useful. Mindset change is very important. And where will they redeem these coupons ?

Many of these farmers commit suicide because they fear loss of their social status' date=' they fear that they may have to sell their land and live like landless farmers. Even after committing suicide their families live and don't die of starvation.In these type of cases the [b']short term solution is to give them compensation How long does it takes for a farmer to get compensation? No social status isn't the main issue .Primary concerns for suicide are always starvation and harrasment by money lenders .
coffee_rules Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 middlemen will make merry in the distribution. Best way is for govt to give welfare money directly into their bank a/c and cut the middlemen costs.

Usually men commit suicide more becoz they feel responsible for the family .Another reason is women find it harder to abandon the child and commit suicides .We never hear what happens to the family after a farmer commits suicide in reality
