You make a very good point there Tics' date=' he was yoyo'ed in the team. He scored couple of decent 40s but was dropped. I can't remember anyone scoring runs in that test match barring Irfan Pathan but they dropped Ganguly. Ganguly then looked quite composed but wasn't persisted with. Selectors are always of this sort, they stuff up a lot.[/quote'] He was dropped because More and co. wanted Yuvraj to play. Yuvraj was scoring runs back then, so it made sense at the time.

Runs scored under crisis, coming in at the fall of quick wickets in both innings in this Test (44/2 and 26/2) and the second innings of the first (93/3), with India threatening to capsize. As pointed out, second only to Sehwag's 544 in a three Test series in cumulative runs. May cross it- he's still unbeaten. Runs scored both home and away since comeback. Was the highest scorer in SA, the second highest in England (with the best average) and now the highest scorer versus Pakistan. Imagine the accolades if Tendulkar had done that. Incredible man. Awesome courage.

There's no need to pour in these many accolades as he's done it against probably the weakest bowling line up after Ban and Zim... and also under the best batting conditions on the planet right now..both were featherbeds for batters not with standing the position we were at Bangalore...

Excuse me? I just pointed out that he top scored in SA and England. Pray, do read. And Shoaib back in fine fettle today. Not exactly a weak attack. Featherbed ar not, he had the guts to stand up and fight at 61 for 4, guiding his team to 626. Never been done in the history of the game.

Dan, You are grossly underestimating Ganguly's achievements this year. Words cannot describe what he had gone through and how he has come back.
