G_B_ Posted May 18, 2015 Posted May 18, 2015 I am surprised about Langer England were in the hunt for him as per reports and it was said he did not want to move out of Australia due to some personal issues with his family and he was eyeing the Australia job after Lehman (said to be after this years ashes as Lehman wants to get back to coaching in the IPL + local aussie sides) If we do Langer the BCCI would have needed to pay him a lot of money to make him reconsider.

However it would be funny if he did get the job as he would get rid of the fatties/slackers as he places a big emphasis on physical fitness and training. Andy Flower apparently is looking more likely...

Flower with his emphasis on controlling everything from nutrition to when players go out etc is a slow motion car crash waiting to happen. Certain coaches dont fit into the Indian culture. As far as fatties and the Indian team go, Raina and Ashwin are the only fatties I can think of. Dhawan Rahane Kohli Che Sir etc are pretty fit. Your not talking about the team which Greg Chappell got with players like Laxman Ganguly Sehwag etc. I dont see that being a problem if it is the case with only a few players. Current lot are pretty fit.

India-KXIP fan Posted May 19, 2015 Posted May 19, 2015 The scheduling is so stupid. We toured NZ-SA-Eng-Aus within 20 months and now we wont be touring to any of these places for next 3 years. Hopefully BCCI fixes this as well. It is a must. Abroad tours should be mixed in. India plays next 10 tests in SC. Then 1 test vs Zim and 4 vs WI away is all there is followed by over 20 tests in SC. Then finally in 2018 India play abroad against a top side, vs SA. That is way too far away and tests are most fun to watch in challenging conditions. They should be mixed in, really sad the way it is atm... Over the next 3 years whoever the new coach is will have the assignment of beating Zim over 1 test and WI over 4 tests :facepalm:

First thing first we need to groom a pool of 3-4 genuine fast bowlers,train them in adequate conditions,let them play county etc so that in 2-3 years they are prepared well for our away tour assignments. Meanwhile we should concentrate on winning our home matches ,we've gotta beat saf and humiliate England at home to show our ruthless intentions and make a positive mark on test cricket again

'We're in the process of finalising the coach' The BCCI is yet to decide on the replacement of Duncan Fletcher, the India coach whose tenure ended after the World Cup. Anurag Thakur, the board secretary, revealed that the BCCI was considering changes in all positions "whether it's the coach or the support staff". The time frame for the appointments has not been set, though, nor was it made clear if Ravi Shastri, the India team director since the tour of England, would continue. "Good things come to those who wait," Thakur said. "We are in the process of finalising that in the cricket advisory committee and also shortlisting the name of the coaches who are available for the interview. Once that process is completed we will be in a position to take a final call to select the coach." Asked about what coaching and support staff would travel to Bangladesh, Thakur remained vague and said it would be finalised next week. However, ESPNcricinfo understands that Shastri in not likely to accompany the team to Bangladesh and his tenure is all but over. India's tour to Bangladesh starts with the only Test in Fatullah on June 10, and in case the board fails to make a decision by then, the team is likely to leave with the assistant coaches - Sanjay Bangar, B Arun and R Sridhar - in charge. It is also understood that Sourav Ganguly's name is being discussed as either the team director or the High Performance Manager for the National Cricket Academy. Rahul Dravid is also likely to be approached for a coaching job for India A. Not sure if he can do the job as the head coach though..
