Number Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 There is no doubt they are still the most successful IPL team. But in the last 4 years, they have lost 3 finals. Their squad still had the most stable and strongest core among all the IPL teams with 3 proven Indian performers. Personally I think Dhoni's captaincy hasn't helped them. Him and Felming go into winning XI nonsense which saves them of analysis and work to improve the XI further. It ultimately comes back to bite them in the play offs.
Zap_Brannigan Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 The only reason they have won more than others is because they got the best Indian contingent. I used to think that it was good eye from them but now i am starting to think that they just lucked out. In the last 3 years, they have picked mccullum (who was responsible for last years loss), smith (who lost it today) and do not have a single overseas bowler considering they do not lack in the indian batting strength. Mccullum was a bad pick when he was bought, he just happen to hit it big in the last year. So it looks like a good pick. Their entire strategic team needs to be ripped apart and thrown away if CSK have any chance of winning atleast once in the next few years. Dhoni's obsession with off spiners bowling only to left handers and left armers to right handers has to be the worst strategy any captain can have.

The way he has been using spinners or bowlers is just weird. If Gayle hadn't got out to Raina, we would have been screwed in the last game itself.
asterix Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 Their win % at home is high and gives them added advantage... I'll not go into their home advantage factors but this season they only lost to MI at home. If other teams can done how winter matches at CDK dust bowl then CSK might struggle to qualify...
Pagalpanti Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 With the form CSK were in in their last 6-8 games it's a surprise they even made it to finals. I'm not sure how you can call this underachieving.

Yea all those playoff games which they won to get to the numerous finals were also played at home. :stupid:
yoda Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Issue with CSK is that the bowling is always under balanced. Team is skewed towards batsmen and that too internationals leaving no spot for quality overseas bowlers. This year was the worst with zero specialist bowler in the XI. The team needs to take a risk with domestic/indian bats and leave a few spots for international bowlers. Dhoni's captaincy and T20 batting is a liability than a plus factor. Yes he is Kewl and all that, but his bone headed moves with toss, playing XI selection and tuk-tukness compensates for his Kewlness.
yoda Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Cheating can only lead you so far. Repeating the same BS over and over can only take you so far, at some point you need something called evidence.
Ironhide Posted May 25, 2015 Posted May 25, 2015 Repeating the same BS over and over can only take you so far' date=' at some point you need something called evidence.[/quote'] Fixing IPL auctions, trying to fix umpires etc by Srini is well documented. The auction fix emails are available online too if you try to search. The rest of the documents are provided to Supreme Court appointed Justice Mudgal committee who has barred Srini from BCCI president post as his presence is nauseating and Justice Lodha committee have been given the responsibility by Supreme Court to announce final punishments to franchisee which will happen in another 2 months, so sit tight all CSK fans as the verdict is coming soon and hope the Supreme court doesn't give a tough punishment.
HippoSucks Posted May 26, 2015 Posted May 26, 2015 It is due to having an underperforming team. They still did very well but failed to peak at the right moments. You can't solely blame captaincy for it.
