Gollum Posted June 20, 2015 Posted June 20, 2015 I am talking about the real version, test cricket. In ODIs and T20s he is pathetic but in tests he seems very good. Unlike most of the modern day Pakistani batsman he bats with a sound technique and looks very compact and difficult to dismiss. His test average of 43 odd seems underwhelming considering that most of his innings were played on familiar pitches but no doubting his worth to the Pakistani team. Another possible match winning innings yesterday when his team was struggling. Adversity seems to bring the best out of him(his knocks against England in 2012 were game changing). Also he held his own in NZ, RSA when other around him made complete fools of themselves. With his solid technique Pakistan's overseas fortunes will be heavily reliant on him. He is someone who doesn't score daddy 100s but his little gems are worth their weight in gold. Hope that with the eventual exit of YK and Misbah we see him batting at no 4, a spot he deserves fully. See him as their batting mainstay very soon. Hopefully he can learn the art of patience and concentration from someone like Azhar Ali. Only his temperament is suspect and without that he will be stuck in he 35-40 average range throughout his career. What do you guys think of him? Good, average, mediocre?

Test is best and Asad has picked the right format to excel in.[/quote'] Hopefully he carries on scoring runs, I think it was his 7th Test Ton, In future we are likely to see Azhar Ali, Harris Sohail, Shafiq,Babar Azam and Sarfraz carrying test batting.
Autonomous Posted June 21, 2015 Posted June 21, 2015 Actually Shafiq is yet to play tests in England but did decently in ODIs there. I think he destroyed Swann in an ODI. But as he did well in NZ and SA,He is likely to do well in English conditions.
