Anitha
which of those sites dont have child porn? Everyone of them has it. Err, no, none of those sites have child porn. child porn is strictly restricted in the US and Europe where these sites run from. Anyone even seeing those sites will be put behind bars for years if those sites had child porn. Do you know that in US if someone even someone draws a cartoon of a child and someone sees it, he can be jailed?
Anitha
No' date=' It didnt. Check the complete story. T[b']he petitioner seems to have linked porn to various type of crime against women. Also word Particularly isnt sysnonymous to only Which is again retarded. This sort of pseudo analysis is what our country runs on Do you know that in the US, etc, after extensive studies, criminals, serial killers and rapists are shown porn as a way of therapy? Because seeing porn helps relieve some of their perverted passions In India no one understands that co-relation does not mean causation. Just because someone saw porn and committed a crime, it does not mean porn caused it. It is like someone who tried curing himself and couldn't. Just like a psycho might try to kill animals before human beings. Just because the animal did not satisfy his killing lust and he killed human, it doesn't mean the animal caused him to become a killer. The person tried seeing porn to alleviate his feelings. That does not mean porn caused his feelings in the first place
moniker
http://www.firstpost.com/india/all-possible-measures-will-be-taken-to-block-porn-sites-govt-assures-sc-2333614.html So Supreme Court thought Modi government will just do like previous governments :haha: Namo Namo Well, here's another report from the very next day. The SC clearly states that blocking porn violates the personal liberty of adults. http://www.thehindu.com/news/national/cant-stop-an-adult-from-watching-porn-in-his-room-says-sc/article7400690.ece Maybe they'd just wanted child porn to be banned. Sachin=GOD
From twitter: So if you're on an Airtel network, the block has been implemented at DNS level. Try changing ur DNS servers to 8.8.4.4. #जन_हित_में_जारी
Donal Cozzie
Its funny seeing people justify this by saying it'll combat rape when the reality is rape will just increase as people look for an outlet to vent their frustrations. Willing to bet any money that, if this ban isnt scrapped, rape in India will increase by a noticable amount
asterix
Here in UK, I use SKY broadband at home and it has this 'broadband block' option which I use to monitor and block problem sites for my kids. (I unblock it when I want to access the sites myself and then re-block it again... :P )..

Texan
Pathetic decision and deserves every bit of public outrage. As I have previously said, Right to Freedom of Speech and Expression must be absolute in India and at the moment, we are far far away from that. We should not even have censorship. What gives 10-15 adults the moral right to police what other adults should watch and not watch? We should be moving to a system of gradation instead of censorship. The word "ban" must be banned in India. Whether it is a book that offends any religious group or a movie, we have too many "Moral Police". For those worried avout kids having access to internet content they shouldn't see - ISPs should provide parental controls to each subscriber. Each subscriber should be free to provide their own moral guidance to their kids. We don't have to follow a " one size fits all" policy here. And for those who think that controlling internet content will lessen cases of rape, well - enforced vasectomy will do an even better job. Are you up for it then? swatpulla
People hoping for reduced rapes should look at our neighbors. Pakistan has banned porn, yet the rape rates there leave even India far behind. Its not going to work that way.

Texan
I think the goi will reconsider and mull over this decision' date='banning porn sites aint making them popular[/quote'] Supreme Court I believe is set for a hearing on this case on Aug 8. I believe they will strike this order down (as they should). When they suggested measures to be taken, they weren't recommending a total ban. swatpulla
Source of your claim ? According to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan’s (HRCP) 2013 report, 2,576 cases of rape were registered in Punjab in 2013 – the highest among all provinces. Yet, it led to zero convictions. These numbers are crazy, just one state, so many rapes, and not one person punished, just to maintain a paak-saaf image? http://tribune.com.pk/story/728949/zero-conviction-rate-for-rape-senator-proposes-constitutional-changes/ With this convition rate, one can imagine how many rapes would go unreported in Pakistan, going to police will give you nothing but humiliation. ------------------------------------------- Violence against women makes up 95 per cent of the cases of violence reported in Pakistan. These statistics are even more chilling, bearing in mind that 70 per cent of cases of violence against women do not get registered. It is reported that a rape occurs in Pakistan every two hours and a gang rape every eight hours. http://www.humanrights.asia/news/ahrc-news/AHRC-STM-044-2012 ------------------------------------------- So, I don't think banning porn has helped Paksitan society at all. If anything, Paksitani media, society and judicial system seems too silent about rapes and literally every case is swept under the carpet. Its bad, I won't be surprised if 95% Pakistani women don't even bother reporting cases as hoping for justice is pointless.

Besides, as long as there will be internet, there is going to be access to child porn. You want rid of it? Get intetnet banned in India.
