Sir john Posted August 18, 2015 Posted August 18, 2015 The Delhi Government today announced a new City Taxi Scheme 2015 which would be an amalgamation of Radio Taxi Scheme 2006 and Economy Taxi Scheme 2010. The government also launched a rented Motorcycle Scheme under which licences will be issued for motorcycles which can be hired by tourists. Making the announcement, Transport Minister Gopal Rai added that vehicles of capacity 600 CC onwards will be covered under the new taxi scheme and black and yellow taxi will be retained as it is and also All India Tourist Permit taxi. The scheme will be applicable to individuals and Group Category as well as the aggregators with the minimum fleet required being 200 and maximum number of 2500 for the Group Category. Aggregators will also be allowed. Under the scheme, there is supposed to be an LCD display on top of the vehicles in green and red colour for availability and occupied category and white taxi with provisions of advertisements on both sides. A panic button and a hooter are mandatory and the bill will be generated as per rates notified by government, said officials. The licence fee for new category is Rs 5,000 and Rs 25,000 for Group Category, they said while noting that the permits from Economy Taxi Scheme 2010 have to be transferred to the New City Taxi Scheme 2015. For smaller size taxi between 600 CC and 749 CC, the fare would be Rs.10 per kilometer with minimum flagdown rate of Rs 25 for the first two km. These fares are quite economical and a boon for individuals and those come from outside the city. These will be commercially registered and given contract carriage permit. Licencees should have a minimum of five motorcycles with office space of 150 sq.ft.
