Very small sample size plus the fact that West Indian pitches since the turn of the millennia have become similar to Lankan pitches:sluggish 2 paced turners. If given more opportunities I am pretty sure he would have piled on the misery on the hapless Calypso jokers(pardon my language but it infuriates me to see these guys donning the same jerseys worn by some of the greatest titans to walk on a cricket field). In India he averaged some 37 I think including a 100. Underachiever in India no doubt but still 37 is okish... Many batsmen don't average that much in their entire career.

Yes, most of his away Tests have pretty small sample sizes anyway. Still, I reckon he should have bashed the hell out of 2 of the weakest attacks in modern times - WI and Ind. So, definitely underachieved in both these places.

But of all the batsmen I have seen in my life, he has been exposed to the most minnows and the flattest tracks. So even if Sri Lanka board is serving him a flat track, this is nothing new.
