Chandan Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Difference in conditions, putrevus. This Lankan team is quite strong in its back-yards and England don't have the best players for spin. And which team is not hammered in Australia? SL were white washed 2-nil, England were whitewashed 5-nil. So you can't compare there.
chamatkar Posted December 20, 2007 Posted December 20, 2007 Mahela had a ginormous record at Galle.. he's now scored 2 of his 4 doubles at this ground. And Vaas, as ineffective as he is outside SL these days, he's just as potent in SL. What I loved was his quote at the end of the day thanking the English counties (Middlesex and W'shre) for improving his batting... it's like rubbing salt in their wounds.
The Outsider Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 England have managed to outscore Vaas in their second innings. 99/1 right now. Pitch looks dead. A miracle draw in action? Naaah.
Mr. Wicket Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 England have managed to outscore Vaas in their second innings. Bravo. Maybe the Barmy Army will compose an overture to celebrate that feat.
The Outsider Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Hold on, I think I spoke too soon. Vaas hasn't batted his second innings yet!:D
Mr. Wicket Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 You think the Poms will give him reason to bat again? :D
Ram Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Hold on' date=' I think I spoke too soon. Vaas hasn't batted his second innings yet!:D[/quote'] There will be no second innings.. :D btw, Lanka at home Lanka abroad,
Mr. Wicket Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 But this is England they're playing! England at home: England abroad: 1-1 in Eng the last time, wasn't it?
The Outsider Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 :hysterical: Here is a good stat for you Salil - since the Bus parade in London, England have won only one test abroad thanks to our brainchild of bowling first at Bombay, dropping 8-10 catches and playing 5 batsmen.
Ram Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 Except for their win against Windies, I dont recall Eng win anything else at all.
MundaPakistani Posted December 21, 2007 Posted December 21, 2007 SL are a fine side now- possibly the third best after AUS and SA.
Chandan Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 Will England save this test? Just ove an hour of the game left, only 4 wickets in hands but to their relief, it is still raining there. They just have to pray that it keeps on raining for an hour at least.
Mr. Wicket Posted December 22, 2007 Posted December 22, 2007 It's drawn. A shame, as Sri Lanka dominated this series very convincingly after the first day and a half, and really deserved better than a 1-0 scoreline.
