bharat297
I can 110% guarantee that he will get the chance to play against Victoria. Lets hope he scores something big. Link to comment
Donny
He has the best possible chance against a Bushrangers unit missing 5 of it's stars. Their opening bowlers, Shane Harwood and Gerard Denton, captain and vc, Cam White & Brad Hodge are all injured and left arm quick, Dirk Nannes, is being rested. Link to comment
SachDan
As far as Viru is concerned its not about the quality of the attack..its his mindset... If its his day then your pace quartet is nothing for him..he can take ur attack apart. Hope that he's OK mentally! Link to comment
Mr. Wicket
Their opening bowlers' date=' Shane Harwood and Gerard Denton, captain and vc, Cam White & Brad Hodge are all injured and left arm quick, Dirk Nannes, is being rested.[/quote'] Darn, Hodge isn't playing? What happened to him? :D Link to comment
chamatkar
Veeru will end up with a series avg of about 28. Then we'll still be undecided at the end of it, because we didn't have a choice and KKD didn't jump on his chances when he did get them. Link to comment
SachDan
This is THE do or die series for Viru..its clear for all that if he don't perform well his career is in jeopardy...so with millions of supporters's prayers and his tremendous ability,he's going to be roaring success in Aus... veer
selection of veeru in playing 11 will be the biggest mistake.. the guy will fail big time.. even bangla bowlers have figured out his weakness.. he has done nothing significant to merit his come back.. i waited and waited in expectation that he will sort out his weaknesses.. but nothing has changed.. karthik and yuvi deserve spot in playing 11 ahead of veeru.. Predator_05
Sehwag will play in the first test no matter what his score in the warm-up game is. They didn't bring him here to warm the bench (even though he would be quite adept for that role, being a lardass compared to Gambhir and Chopra) and i wouldn't be at all surprised if he played all 4 tests. Ram
Agree, Sehwag will play the warm-up and the first test. I am certain none of Dravid or any other middle-order batsman who were in the race for opening refused it bluntly. Link to comment
Dravid
good he got picked...sehwag fans got their wish..now watch as he fails and a career ends.. :P btw i do hope he does good, cus india will need an inform sehwag to win.. but those days r gone.. Link to comment
DesiChap
Will lighter bat do the trick for Viru? MELBOURNE, PTI: Virender Sehwag has had enough of technical and mental discourses to pull himself out of the current form crunch. A lighter bat, special practice balls and an uncluttered mind is what the explosive opener is counting on this time to regain his devastating touch. Sehwag flew in with the Indian team here with a set of bats, each lighter by 90-100 gms and a box of balls of two colours. All international batsmen visit Australia with knots in stomach, unsure if they are quick enough to move in line or duck against searing pace of demonic home bowlers. Sehwag, if anything, has worked for simple options now that he does not have a domineering coach or psychologist numbing him with theories which they develop in their mental laboratory and test on unsuspecting wards. A lighter bat would still allow his punishing strokes to come down from an expansive backlift quickly and meet the ball with an impact which only sends it screaming to the fence. The two-colour balls in the nets are intended to help him 'sight' the ball quicker and better, for him to gain the necessary confidence for the middle. Sehwag could sense the hand of destiny which, against all odds, put him on plane to Australia. (TOI Photo) http://cricket.indiatimes.com/quickiearticleshow/2633856.cms Link to comment
living
I can 110% guarantee that he will get the chance to play against Victoria. Lets hope he scores something big. He's not playing ... :two_thumbs_up: Don't think he deserves a spot anyway. Link to comment
sm332
this pretty much seals the decision for the first two tests Link to comment
The Outsider
Weird decision not to play Sehwag and open with Dravid. Hoping against hope that they rectify it for the MCG. Link to comment
fineleg
lol. its a forgone conclusion that sehwag is not going to get a chance unless there is severe dip in form for jaffer or injuries. i am glad. hope kumble is not forced to change his mind by 'external forces', politics, sponsors et al. Donny
I am certain none of Dravid or any other middle-order batsman who were in the race for opening refused it bluntly. Are you serious ? If an Aussie or, for that matter, almost any other country's batsman refused to bat in a certain position, they'd be dropped like a hot scone. mm, take note: "If I am asked to open in the Test matches, I will be happy to do so," said Dravid after opening the innings with Wasim Jaffer on the opening day of the three-day warm-up match against Victoria. "I am comfortable doing any role that is given to me by the team management. I try and do the best I can, irrespective of where I bat," said Dravid, who had opened the innings for India on several occasions." Link to comment
