PSB_Zone Posted August 21, 2015 Posted August 21, 2015 After the Ashes squad may be as many as 10 members of current squad may never be able to play test cricket again either due to retirement,age or poor form-clarke,rogers,harrish retired while voges ,haddin,watson and jonshon may be dropped.Siddle to be doomed depending on this test performance.shaun Marsh and fawad ahmed has a 50-50 chance to continue. Australia are going to play against bangladesh so here is my squad of 16. Chris Lynn should be in the mix somewhere - prob their most consistent "young" batsman around. Agar is going to do well this time - can bat, and now his bowling is pretty good.

For the most part Smith should not bat at 3.

For the most part Smith should not bat at 3. I too have seen Lynn in T20s but he's looked to be a clean strokemaker. As for Smith, it's true that No.4 or No.5 is better suited for him, but someone's gotta step up to that No.3 position.

However, Stoinis record is pretty good (despite a poor 100 conversion rate) and he seems to be a very useful bowling option as well.

Stoinis is selected for the ODI squad this Ashes as a replacement for Faulkner (he is banned for 4 matches).

The openers like Bancroft, Silk and Carters might not be ready for the test level so far. Burns won't do well opening at test level either. Hughes would have been perfect right now. While Australia has some issues in terms of batting talent, their bowling still looks very good despite Harris retiring. Starc, Hazlewood, Johnson, Lyon with Pattinson, Siddle, Cummins, Agar etc as backups. Actually rethinking the squad I would go with this for the Bangladesh tour: Warner Bancroft Smith © Voges Burns Mitchell Marsh Nevill (WK) Johnson Agar Hazlewood Lyon Backups: 12. Starc 13. Burns is the obvious replacement for Clarke so he needs to be reintroduced in the test side as soon a possible. Give Lynn 1-2 years to settle and he'll have become a fine bat by then... possibly. Instead, playing Voges on is myopic planning - not everyone can be as superb as Misbah in old age.
